Well, that's only part of it. There is the aspect of wanting to quash any comments which might logically and intelligently debate a point, or express criticism (even if it is constructive in nature), etc., out of some fear of the possibility of arguments or drama.

And, of course, we know how drama foments here...you've been forced to deal with it recently when one kid couldn't handle some simple and intelligent observations and suggestions from you. Of course, to be fair to the staff, in this particular case I believe they actually maintained a balanced perspective about that one. For a change.

Exactly. It's utter nonsense, and unfair, to believe that everyone should be posting sugar-coated comments. These people need to wake up and realize that the world isn't some Disney musical, where everything is friendly, cute, and happy. And actually, I find it disturbing to think that these people want the world to be a place where everyone smiles constantly, makes only nice comments, etc. *shutters*

Upsetting that there are certain people who hate seeing others post intelligent comments which are not flowery, ridiculously-sensitive or sopping with empty praise? Agreed. It does bother me though. A lot.

Uh huh. As ridiculous as it can be, I try to not let it bother me. Even though sometimes it can be upsetting.

For which the witty responder usually ends up getting a witless slap on the wrist, either for trying to help, or for pointing out an obvious problem, or just for being a bit snarky.

Gotta love this place sometimes.
