She believes there is good in everyone and tries her best to see it, even though it has led to past misgivings with family and friends. She tends to come off as naive, but can often catch on to the actions that others are doing. She can also often be seen as too friendly with others, and quite the chatterbox, much to her son's chagrin. She can come off as annoying and naive, but she's also a very sweet, loving person who wants to believe that the world is a good place with good people. She's also very responsible, and does her best to look out for herself and for Nick's future. Though her son can be tiresome at times, she adores him to no end, and would do anything for his happiness.
History: Vivica Wilde was originally born in the Meadowlands as an only child, and grew up in a small town mainly populated by sheep. Growing up, she was a part of the only fox family in town, and as such was often outcasted by her neighbors. She had a hard time making friends despite her sweet personality. However, she was determined to prove others wrong, and not live up to the typical stereotype of a fox. During elementary school, she met and befriended a deer named Samantha Brooks. At nine years old her parents adopted a Melanistic whitetail deer, and she was very excited to have a little brother, whom was named Alan. She did her best to help raise him with the right morals, however it didn't prevent him from getting into fights at school when others threw slurs at their family. When she was in high school, she found a love of cooking, and dreamed of becoming a chef at a gourmet restaurant. She worked tirelessly to achieve her goals, and when the time came for college, she moved to Downtown Zootopia to attend culinary school.
Zootopia however turned out to be harder than she expected. Though she was used to prejudice in her hometown, she had hoped that an urban area like Zootopia would be more accepting of others. College proved to be a challenge, as many of her classmates refused to make friends with a fox. While in College, she met another fox by the name of Todd Valentine. Through his cunning and persuasive personality, the two began dating, and eventually, they got married soon after. Todd had promised that she didn't need to work, and that he could afford to buy a restaurant for her. Eager to kickstart her career early, she quit college, and lived at home, taking care of their apartment while Todd went out for work. Not too long after at the age of 21, she gave birth to their first child, Nicholas 'Nick' Valentine.
However, she was unaware that Todd was lying and cheating to get money. He began to act suspiciously, and she noticed. After snooping around for a while, she came to the conclusion that he was lying and stealing to get money. Outraged, she confronted him about it, and they argued for months until one day, Todd was caught and arrested in the act. While he was in prison, she filed for divorce, and gained full custody of Nick. She had no job, and now quickly scrambled to find one to help support herself and her son. Many jobs turned her down due to her species and lack of education, however she managed to find a job as a waitress. She and Nick moved into a much smaller, one bedroom apartment that she could hardly afford as she struggled to make money. Getting back into college proved to be tough, and she had to set it aside to work full time. During this time, she relied on the Miershooptier family, two friends she'd made in college, to babysit Nick while she was working.
She did her best to raise Nick by herself, and wanted him to always be happy, even giving up as much money as she could manage to buy him a uniform to become a Junior Ranger Scout. Unfortunately, due to having to work all day just to get food on the table, she was never really able to shield him from the prejudice she had also experienced, and so found it hard as her son grew older and bitter. In 2000, Viv went on a blind date set up by one of her frequent customers at the restaurant, Larry. She hit it off with Rick Wolverton quite well and the two were dating for two years before she considered breaking up with him, finding her feelings to be unromantic. However, before she could break up with him, she tuned into a plane crash report in the evening, hoping it wasn't Rick's plane, but no such luck. The next day she got the call of his death, and mourned in secret. After her son had been through so much, she didn't want him to see her sad. When the funeral came, she sent Nick to his grandparents' home so she could attend. Though it took time, she eventually managed to get over his death, even after months of sadness.
When Nick was 16, he began to help her out with payments. She grew suspicious, and warned her son against cheating and stealing. He promised he wasn't, and that he'd make an honest living. Trusting in her son, she believed him, and allowed him to bring in money. When he moved out, she grew worried for her son, and often tried to contact him as much as possible. During this time, she met Mrs. Otterton, who became a regular at their restaurant, and she made quick friends with her and her husband.
When she heard news reports of predators going savage, she grew anxious about what this meant for the future, particularly Nick's. When the case was solved, Nick called her, and came home to talk with her. She then met Judy, Nick's friend, and Nick became more involved in her life again. When Nick graduated from the police academy, Vivica was very proud at this change in her son, and was excited to meet his new girlfriend, Rachel Mackenzie. Life continued in Zootopia, and though Vivica continued to work hard at the restaurant, she felt glad that she was closer to her son and his girlfriend, and she began making more friends, including the new mayor, Elizabeth Denning. When Nick revealed he was going to propose, Vivica was very excited, and went to help him pick out the ring.
After attending Nick's wedding to Rachel, a particularly tough case started at the police office; mysterious letters and threats were being sent to the ZPD, as well as homes of individual officers, including Nick, making Viv very worried for her son and daughter in law. They aren't sure who is sending the letters, but Viv is fearful for her son's life in his new line of duty. During this time, she met and befriended a wolf named Arnaud Deloup when she was walking through the park one day and started a conversation.
