A buck hopped up next to Kes as she was sitting in the grass staring off the down. She paid him no heed until he wormed his way into her direct line of sight, surprising her, and he asked, ''Not going to silflay?''
She jumped. It was Bluebell - surprised, she opened her mouth but said nothing. ''Wolf-toothed, are you? They sure look fine, is that what you're showing me?'' he asked, looking amused.
''No, no... Er, no, I'm just not hungry, that's all,'' Kesthile told him, ears laying back.
''Hm. Well, wolf-toothed rabbits are always hungry, so I suppose I'll accept that,'' he told her, flipping an ear.
''Well, yyou ought to,'' Kes told him, scowling.
''If you ever do get hungry,'' Bluebell responded, ''I'll be here for company.'' With that he set to feeding a few meters away.
