''Inkberry, isn't it?'' Inkberry looked up from where she was feeding between two large boulders. Before her stood none other than the chief himself, his lithe, dark form standing out amongst the grass.
''Yes, sir. That's my name.'' She sat up to look at him.
''Where did you come from, Inkberry? Tell me about you and and your companions. You certainly are an unusual group to see in the Greenwood.''
She flicked an ear, looking away under his gaze. ''No moroe unusual than any other rabbit here at the Harbor. You see, Nere and I are littermates. When we were still very young, and we hadn't been put into our own hutches yet, a storm came and blew ours over. It broke and we escaped. We met Patch later on. We travelled together from the town beyond the heather to the East,'' she told him.
''You came all that way?'' Mahogany looked astounded and almost concerned.
''We're lucky we found your warren when we did, Mahogany-Rah.'' Inkberry replied.
He nodded slowly. ''I'm very glad you did, Inkberry,'' he told her with a slight smile.
An image of a large brown buck with a thick, dark mane flashed in Inkberry's mind. ''I am too,'' she replied politely. ''I want to go check on Nere, if I am dismissed.'' He nodded and Inkberry turned to find Nere.
