I'm a fan of the Watership Down book and the movie based on it, but what about TV series? What is great and what bugs me in it? Here's a little review of seasons 1 and 2.

The story: The advantage of TV series is that you don't have to rush to fit the whole story in it. What bugs me is that they had a chance to follow the book closely, and while they added some missing elements the movie didn't have, the whole plot, events and characters are just some kind of free interpretation instead of a faithful image or original Watership Down. And what is the most annoying are those filler episodes. UGH! However, I liked the plot with Campion. Expanding the main plot adds a nice developement to the characters and it's really enjoyable to watch as long as there are no random fillers on the way.

Overall rate - some nice ideas for character developement, but too much fillers and "freelancing" around the original story -  5,5

The animation: Too cartoony for my taste. The fact the TV series were more kid-oriented made the "violent" scenes of fight look rather clumsy, not to mention the rabbits didn't have natural looks and movement, which kinda annoyed me. The animation blur was annoying and characters were often looking weird and anatomically incorrect.

Overall rate - not so great - 3

Characters: I still can't forgive changing the gender of Blackberry. As I said in the story part - there should have been more book characters and less filler ones. But also due to plot changes and expanding, the characters got more developement and unique personalities. Designs were okay. Sometimes unrealistic and "could have been better", but there was more diversity, which was good. You could easily tell the characters apart.

Overall rate - good character developement and design diversity - 7

Voices and music: A big plus for the series. The voices were fantastic and really fit the characters. The only voice I didn't like was Dandelion, who sounded way too whinny and annoying. Music was good and fitting too.

Overall rate - Great music and voice actors. Minus one point for Dandelion xD - 9
