Personality & Appearance

Strengths: Assassination, endurance and stealth

Weakness:  Face-to-face combat, saying no to orders

Fear: Letting anyone down, even if it's a wrong doing

Persona: The joker of Darkhaven, no one ever takes Reedmace too seriously. He is never all-in on anything, except when it's an important order. Cynical and and somewhat vain, Reedmace is pretty stubborn and will not take 'no' for an answer from anyone under him. He himself is a very distrustful rabbit who knows how to play with words skillfully. Also being an opportunist, Reed takes any chance he gets to make himself shine infront of Owsla or the Chief. Tends to snap easily due to his pent up anger towards everyone who's stronger than him. Extremely frustrated that he is unable to move up in ranks due to his lack of fighting ability.

Physical Appearance: A very lengthy rabbit, much like the build of Dandelion. Obtained the nickname 'Batty' because of his abnormally long ears and a somewhat 'bat-like' face. Has the gash marks of a Darkhaven member on his left ear. Light grey tuft of fur on the top of his head that is somewhat curly, and trails down to the beginning of his neck. Very scrawny and light-weight, in certain daylight you can see his cheek bones. Instead of one feather, Reed has a crest of feathers that were stained turquise around his neck. As a young rabbit they fit him well, but now that he's grown they look somewhat small compared to his body. His bright eyes shine like glowing fireflies during the night.

History

Reedmace was born during the good days of Sandleford, right before Fiver's dark visions caused them to leave the Warren. He was the skinniest of the litter, but was far from the runt. If he remembered correctly, Reed was in fact the tallest and lengthiest of all of his siblings. His parents thought he was sickly, so they didn't pay much attention to him during his childhood. Reedmace often wondered off of his own along Sandleford's borders, teaching himself in the ways of stealth. He used this talent to spy and sneak up on his siblings, in which he always got in trouble for scaring them. Reedmace was still quite young when he decided to wonder off farther than he ever did before, way out of the borders of his Warren. This was a few moons before Fiver and his group left due to his dark visions, which kept the Warren too busy with fright to notice a single rabbit sneaking away. Reedmace returned a few days later after his adventure, and what he found was catastrophic;

His whole warren was in utter ruins.

What scared Reedmace the most was the feeling he got from this destruction; nothing. Nothing but a numb feeling that blocked out any sadness or distraught. Was it because, deep inside, he didn't have a single care about his family that basically ingnored him? Reedmace didn't hover over this thought for long, for now he could do whatever he pleased. A few days into his journey the young rabbit stepped on something that made him jump. Looking down, he was standing on an odd man-made object. It was a wooden circle that had woven string through the middle, creating a spider web appearance. What really caught his eye what was hanging down from it - stunning turquise feathers attached to strings. Reed easily nibbled off the feathers and attached them to the back of his neck using sap that he found be an old maple tree.

Many moons later Reedmace found himself stumbling right into Darkhaven territory, his scent picked up by a nearby patrol and being taken back to the Chief; Granite. Seeing how they were low on scouts, Granite allowed Reedmace to stay and train in the ways of Darkhaven. The dark rabbit had an odd attraction to this place as soon as he entered, fascinated by their ways of fighting and their belief in "The Dark One". As time went on and Reedmace grew into a young adult, he became one of the best assassins in the warren, a master of stealth. But this was not what Reed truly wanted. All his life of being ignored, he wanted to be praised by the Owsla as a strong warrior. Unfortunetally, the only way to do this was to win in battle, and Reedmace was not strong enough to defeat any of the Owsla. Staying in the shadows of Darkhaven, he watched as a large buck named Campion took over the warren for a short time, until Woundwort came and changed the warren forever.

Believing that General Woundwort truly was The Dark One, Reedmace blindly followed his Chief, his desperation to be noticed becoming his downfall. When Woundwort brought the Darkhaven rabbits to battle Watership Down for the last time, Reed had no second thoughts. All he knew in life now was to follow; even if it means to kill. He fought well in the final battle, for once feeling like he was recognized for his actions. This was short-lived when Silverweed used the magic to destroy Woundwort and his followers, dragging Reedmace away to the Black Rabbit of Inle.
