Mental
Personality: Fast-talking and energetic, Tinder never stops thinking. He is keen on new ideas and enjoys talking about them – talking in general is a strong point of his, to a fault almost – it’s nearly impossible to get a word in edge-wise. He is good-natured, cheerful, and kind, but can be very dangerous when upset. He tends not to be, though, and is generally very protective of the things he loves. Tinder is excitable and rather charming, and seems not to dislike anyone naturally – you always have to do something in order to make him dislike you. He has a heavy emphasis on improvement, and loves helping out.
Likes: Lienahlay, the owsla, being around others, talking
Dislikes: Very little
Fears: Unknown
Goals: None
Strengths:
Intelligent: One thing he always had going for him – Tinder has been very smart his whole life and, like Blackberry, understands the ‘board’ trick. He also has a fair grasp on other mechanics, too.
Charming: Others tend to like Tinder’s personality, given that he is very bright and energetic all the time.
Weaknesses:
Light-weight: It doesn’t take a whole lot to get Tinder down physically.
History:
Tinder never did enjoy talking about his history.
For such a cheerful rabbit, his history is a rough one, and not one that lends itself to such a happy disposition.
Tinder was born to the doe of the chief rabbit of his warren, which was not far from Efrafa. He was born before Woundwort was lost, and how the warren escaped Efrafa’s view remained unknown. There was a high likelihood that it was due to the fact that it was in a band of very thick woods. The warren had no name, as none was needed. They survived in an open area of the woods where the grass would grow, in a small round valley, thick brambles all around the upper edge. A small stream passed through.
This was where Tinder grew up, the son of the chief. He had promise, others thought, based on the father’s size, but Tinder never grew into that. He was always a bit small and narrow-shouldered, and far more interested in what was going on beyond the valley than anyone else.
At four months old, though, Tinder’s life changed. The forest took on great amounts of rain and flooded out. It happened in the night that the stream overflowed and filled the burrows. Tinder did his best and was washed down to the South. He doesn’t know whether anyone survived the flood or not.
He was found in the heather by Lindrithray, who took him into an established Lienahlay at its height.
Tinder was happy to be in a warren after his ordeal. He was sick at first but soon healed. At first, things were looking up.
Before long, though, Gentian fell torpid and things got worse. Tinder in particular, being so small and curious, got a good deal of bullying from the Owsla. In fact he was a favorite target.
However, when Gentian met Thethuthinang, Tinder was promoted to Owsla and soon met Poppy, Bigwig and Thethuthinang’s daughter.
When the story continues, Tinder will become more acquainted with the Watership Down rabbits.
