Question :

What was the idea for this seires basicly how did it become?

Best answer :

After I finished work on Duck Tales and Rescue Rangers, I was supposed to create a new 65-episode series. I spun my wheels on an idea called "B Players" about the cartoon characters on the backlot that couldn't find work (e.g. Clarabelle Cow, Jiminy Cricket, Baloo, etc.) It never got okayed, so I was desperate. I remembered an idea that we had on Duck Tales in which Launchpad McQuack had an air delivery service. I married that with Baloo (from B Players) and ran it by Mark Zaslove. He liked it, and together we started developing Tale Spin. After 3 days of development, we pitched it to Eisner and Katzenberg, and it was an instant sale. (And, yes, Tales of the Gold Monkey was an inspiration.)

There appears to be a lot of influence from a show called Tales of the Gold Monkey (which I suspect many on this site are quite familiar with).

Basically, the idea of TaleSpin is inclined to follow the further adventures of Baloo the bear, from Disney's 1967 classic movie,The Jungle Book, although he looks entirely different in Talespin, and was voiced by Phil Harris(Jungle Book),also Ed Gilbert(TaleSpin).

My sincerest of apologies to creator Jymn Magon, and hope this info helps you.^^
