The summer holidays are almost over (for some of you, they ARE over), but that doesn't mean that animated films are coming to a halt. In fact, some might say that the best films of 2011 are yet to come!
First of all, the news that I think a lot of you will find the most interesting: on September 16, for a limited 2-week run, Disney is re-releasing The Lion King in theaters, in 3D! This means that you'll be able to not only see it on the big screen, but with new 3D technology. While opinions on this range from terrific to negative (one newspaper called it "Disney's attempt at making money is getting worse") those who have seen this film in 3D have stated that the 3D only adds to the film and is not the focus of it. There is no word on if this applies oversees, but in America at least you can expect to see The Lion King in 3D beginning September 16. Remember, it's only for two weeks, so see it while you can!
Next up on the list is Puss in Boots, a spin-off/prequel to the Shrek films that features on secondary character Puss. The film follows this boot-wearing cat and his adventures as a self-declared "Ogre-killer", and mostly revolved around what happens to him before the events of Shrek 2. It's Dreamworks' third film this year, and if you want to see it, it comes out November 4 worldwide.
A little further down the line is Happy Feet Two, the sequel to the 2006 winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Film. This film follows Mumble and his son Erik; this time around, it's Erik who has a problem, only now it's because he can't dance. (Seems ironic, that his dad couldn't sing and he couldn't dance.) It premieres November 18 in the US and November 16 in Australia.
The week after that, Arthur Christmas comes to theaters. Those of you who saw Tangled probably remember seeing a trailer for this film. It is about Santa Claus's son Arthur, who is given a mission that must be completed by Christmas morning. Not much about this film has been revealed, but it comes out November 23 in the US; for those of you in England, you get it on November 11. (Lucky!)
And last on the list is The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. This marks Steven Spielberg's return to animation (one of his last films was Balto), and uses motion-capture technology to tell the story based on the book of the same name. If you're not really that big into motion-capture films, that's okay; this film looks to be terrific. Be careful, though; this film could receive a PG-13 rating in the US/12A in the United Kingdom.
As far as is known, these are the films that will be shown between now and the end of 2011. What are your thoughts on this?

Besides, Disney has stopped the DTV sequels production. And they stopped doing hand drawn animation (pretty much)
To be honest, many people complained about these cheap sequels, but I've never been a part of them...At least that was the last way to see some hand drawn Disney...
But what I don't undestand is that Disney can make The Lion King, in 3D, but why don't they make a Lion King 4?
I believe it would give them soooo much more money.
And so many fans more happy.

Like I said before, 3D was better 10 years ago. You actually was watching the movie in 3D with REAL blue red glasses. And not EVERY movie that came out was released in 3D, unlike now.

As for Happy Feet. First of all I don't think it needed a sequel. Second, the movie seems like a repeat of the first. Though I have to admit, Erik IS adorable!

As for TinTin, I seriously hop they don't mess it up... Secret of the Unicorn was one of my favourites, I would hate to see people saying that TinTin is stupid because they've seen the movie *that may or may not be bad*.
