The Silver Brumby Characters part 4
More characters from The Silver Brumby books. Most of the characters in this picture are from the 4th book; Silver Brumby Kingdom
I'm a bit of a fan of the Silver brumby books, so I wanted to make some pictures of the characters in Spirit style. Of course, the author used very poetic language to describe the horse's coat colours, and very few face or leg markings are described, so some of this is artistic liscence; i.e. I've used my imagination.
Koora - Name Meaning: Sweet - (Whiteface x ?). A pale strawberry roan mare who takes a liking to Thowra. She eventually becomes one of his mares, although Baringa looks after her.
Kalari - Possible Name meaning: daughter?- (The Brolga x ?) Boon Boon's older sister, and one of Storm's favourite mares. She's actualy mentioned in the first book, but she isn't named until the 4th book.
Yarolala - Name Meaning: To fly - (Son of Storm x ?) Yarolala is Storm's granddaughter, and a throwback to Yarraman. She was named for her speed. She originally wanted to join Thowra's herd, but in the end she became one of Baringa's mares.
Kalina - Name Meaning: the beauty of frost on snow - (Baringa x Dawn). Baringa's son by Dawn. He was born during a flood.
Dilkara - Name Meaning: Rainbow- (Thowra x Koora). Thowra's son by Koora. He's described in the books as 'silver with pale roan ears', but I decided to make him a much more obvious palomino roan.
Steel - (The Brolga x ?) This dark grey stallion hates Lightning and Baringa, supposedly because silver horses attract men, who hunt all the brumbies.
The Ugly One - (? x?) An ugly stallion who originally owned Moon. Abandoned her during the fire, where she was subsequently saved by Baringa.
Bolder- (? x ?) A fierce chestnut stallion, reported to be a killer, who makes an unprovoked attack on Baringa.
IThere you go; that's all the named brumbies from the first 4 books (which are the only books I've read, so far). I'd also love to know the meanings to all the aboriginal names of the characters. Obviously, the ones I've listed I already know, but the ones I haven't listed I can't find meanings for. If you know what they are, I'd love to hear them ^^
