The Silver Brumby Characters part 2
More characters from The Silver Brumby books. Most of the characters in this picture are from the second book; The Silver Brumby's Daughter.
I'm a bit of a fan of the Silver brumby books, so I wanted to make some pictures of the characters in Spirit style. Of course, the author used very poetic language to describe the horse's coat colours, and very few face or leg markings are described, so some of this is artistic liscence; i.e. I've used my imagination.
Star - (Yarraman x Unnamed mare). A brown filly who only appeared in the first book. About the same age as Thowra, Storm and Arrow, she always wished she could go off adventuring with Thowra, Storm and their mothers.
Kunama - Name meaning: Snow - (Thowra x Golden) Thowra's silver daughter. She often goes off exploring with him.
Highland Lass/Lubra - Name meaning: A female Aboriginal Australian - (?x ?) A black racehorse mare that Storm stole from a foolish stallion. Storm renamed her Lubra, but the humans called her Highland Lass. She was recaptured at the end of the first book.
Jillamatong - Name Meaning: ? - (Thowra x ?). A half sister to Kunama, Jilla is described as 'creamy with dark points'. She's very kind to Kunama, and becomes one of Tambo's 3 mares with Kunama and Wanga
Tambo - Name Meaning: Possibly: Deep, dark river - (Unnamed chestnut racehorse x Lubra). Lubra's son, whom she was evidently already pregnant wiith/had just given birth to when she escaped into the bush. He is much wiser than his 'foolish' mother.
Spear - (Unnamed stallion x Unnamed daughter of Brownie) Arrow's nephew, who bears a strong resemblance to him. He causes a lot of trouble for Tambo because he wants the black's 3 creamy mares
Wanga - Name meaning: ? - (Thowra x?) Jilla and Kunama's half sister, and one of Tambo's mares
I hope to make more pictures of other characters in the books. I'd also love to know the meanings to all the aboriginal names of the characters. Obviously, the ones I've listed I already know, but the ones I haven't listed I can't find meanings for. If you know what they are, I'd love to hear them ^^
