The Spring Valley Herd was enjoying an unseasonably warm spring morning when suddenly a filly’s cry split the air. Every head shot up at the sound, in particular Cottontail and Hotspur, who recognised their daughter Rhineland’s voice instantly. Hotspur gave a scream of rage as he saw the dark female, Nightmare, looming over his daughter and a strange colt, and he reared and charged at her. With a smirk Nightmare twisted on her fetlocks and took off, whilst Rhineland scrambled to her hooves and galloped for the safety of the herd, the colt following her in the chaos and confusion.
