Vanishing Herd

Wait, what happened to the rest of the Cimarron Herd whilst Spirit was visiting the cowboy campsite?! Seriously, is it just me, or does some of his herd disappear when he returns to them in the morning? No wonder Spirit looks so concerned XD

Lol, I think the problem was that there were just so many unnamed, minor horses in the Cimarron Herd that it was difficult for the producers to keep track of them all. At one point he seems to have as few as 5 mares, not including Esperanza and the foals, whilst at other times there seems to be well over 20 mares in his herd. It seems to depend as well on whether the other horses are drawn or CG animated.
