What If...

Where were the 3 Lakota Horses when Spirit saved Rain from the river? Probably helping their masters to defend the settlement. But what if they were in a position to watch Spirit and Rain plummet over the waterfall? Would they assume they were both dead? Could that have been an extra reason why they were so happy to see Spirit on the train? And how would they feel when they got back to the Lakota village and discovered that rain was still alive too?
