Spirit didn't see the attack coming. He was only focused on HIS plan. His plan was to lead No Good into the trees so that he could rid himself of the coyote once and for all.
But it didn't work that way. The very instant Spirit set his plan into motion--his plan to stomp No Good to death--the cunning coyote signaled towards the bushes with a yip. In an instant, Spirit was violently forced to the ground. He found himself under the crushing weight of a massive Kodiak bear.
It dug its claws into Spirit's hide, and gave a mighty roar in his ear. Spirit didn't even attempt to fight back. He laid there, scared stiff. No Good grinned.
--Well, well, well, look who's in trouble now.- - No Good took a seat near the paralyzed stallion's head. --Thought you had me, didn't you?--
Spirit snorted under the weight of the enormous bear. The beast dug his claws deeper into Spirit's neck. The stallion could feel the warm trickle of his own blood slowly dripping from the wounds. He winced in pain.
No Good chuckled. --You made a big mistake, horse. The same mistake every animal makes when dealing with me.-- No Good suddenly furrowed his brows, a deep snarl rising from his throat. He shouted viciously. --YOU UNDERESTIMATED ME, YOU FOOL!-- He snapped his jaws at Spirit's face. Spirit flinched.
Just as suddenly as he lost his temper, No Good relaxed and gave a gentle smile.
--It's not going to happen again.-- He looked up at the bear. --This is Balderdash. He's my muscle. He'll be living in the valley now, keeping a very sharp eye on you.--
He got up and started away. --If you even so much as think of getting rid of me again...I'll give Tons-o-Fun over there full permission to make a buffet out of your herd.-- He stopped and turned, looking Spirit dead in the eye.
--Starting with your pretty little daughter and your precious pinto mare.--
The bear grinned, a thick glob of saliva splashing Spirit in the face. Spirit whimpered, knowing now that getting rid of the intruder would be impossible....

My 2nd render/splice. Been wanting to do this scene for a long time now. It's No Good telling Spirit to watch his back, because the wily coyote enlisted the help of his hired thug, a Kodiak bear named Balderdash (or, as No Good so politely calls him-- 'Tons-o-Fun').
Render done by me. ^___^
