~Helpless~

Suddenly an explosion rocked the very earth beneath his hooves. Kaito’s head snapped round to see a ball of fire billowing up through the trees, the dead grass catching and igniting as the wind swept the flames through the forest. Hastily, his heart in his mouth, the grey stallion scrambled down from his perch and raced on trembling legs through the burning forest. But he was too late. His herd of pregnant mares were trapped by the very outcrop they had sought shelter in. The flames were intense and ferocious, and every one of them perished in the searing heat and choking smoke. Only Kaito survived, forced to run from the fire to save his own life, painfully aware that he was leaving his herd, his beloved Aurora to die, helpless to save them.

Wanted to try out a new render of mine and thought it's fit the lonely Ice fairly well; though I feel I didn't render him very well. ^^; Ahem, anyway, I actually quite like this render. C:
