I felt the cold ground under my small body I opened my eyes to see a large dark blue thing with little white dots I also saw black moving things above then I saw my lovely mother she was a palomino appaloosa she wasn’t very stocky at all she had lovely long legs, she lent over and nuzzled me then slowley stood up and came and nudged me I followed her lead and stood up only to fall over, my mother nudged me up again she was gentle and loving her sent was sweet once I had stood up with out falling or wobbling she took a few steps away from me , and winned calling me to her, I copied her and slowley made my way to her she smiled then nudged her belly I went over and looked and smelt it smelt sweeter then my mother, her milk, my instincts told me to drink so I did, it was warm and I liked it ,it was the second warm thing I knew the first being my mother “good girl snowey” I herd my mother say ,snowey she had named me snowey , a wile later my mother showed me how to trot and canter ,I started to wonder if this place we where in was are home there was long brown things that changed into the black dappled things above and there was blackish green things all around us as well as the stuff on the ground. I went over to the long thing and sniffed it “that’s a tree” my mother said, then I looked at the blackish green things “bushes” then I tried to sniff the ground but my neck was a little to short “that’s grass, that’s what we eat” mother said, but what I didn’t know was mothers name I knew I was snowey but who was mother, I looked up at the blue thing but it wasn’t blue it was orange and yellow it was pretty, the trees tops had changed it wasn’t black! It was tiny little green things mother then nudged my back “its time to meet your father” she said she started to walk and I followed as we walked the trees grew less and then I saw a large area of long grass, mother sped up to a trot and trotted over to a red dun stallion and nuzzled him I trotted over I looked at him and he smiled “snowey this is your father” my mother said, a father? What is a father I had no idea I sniffed him his sent was strong and smelt the grass and my mother, I didn’t know why but I guessed a father was like a mother
I looked over to my mother but she wasn’t there she had walked away wile I was looking at father, I leaped over to her and stoped to turn around I had seen a new horse a yearling, with long thick leg fur he was black and white mostly but had blue eyes which stood out as he had black rings around his eyes he didn’t look up he just grazed he, I wanted to say hi but he looked like he would never reply to me so I nuzzled my mother happily then I sniffed around her and she went back to grazing I wanted to try I bent my head down but I couldn’t reach so I walked over to her side and began to drink the warm milk she provided me as food ,she then moved her head and touched me ,I jumped forward then looked at her she smiled then went back to grazing.
Two weeks past and I was able to now graze the yearling I found out was called solar storm he was living with my mother and father as he had no parents as to speak of and my parents took pity on as they thought he could help them protect me once I was born, he also made a good playmate for me he and I would play in the long grass he keeping an eye on me sometimes he wouldn’t and I would sneak up on him and nipped his rear he never kicked out but would snort at me which I found funny, one morning I was sleeping in the grass having a nap then all of a sudden I herd a low growling sound then I looked around and saw two small eyes looking at me I got up slowley then solar storm bolted at the eyes he reared up at the thing it leapt up it was long and furry solar storm turned and kicked it in the jaw it let out a load noise and crawled away father came over to solar storm and muttered something mother came over and nuzzled me “thank goodness you are safe” she said to me I didn’t understand what she meant ,safe from what? The eyes? I guessed so. Mother looked to father who said, “let’s move it’s not safe” he then started off in a trot mother and I followed solar storm behind us
We walked for days before father let us stop, we where at a huge paddock of grass it looked so fresh and green but father seems troubled, solar storm looked about then snorted looking at a black stallion the stallion shook his head father looked at solar storm who nodded “lets keep going” father said and we walked away, I don’t know why but something must have been wrong for us to be moved on from the place full of food, as we walked I saw father his head was low and he didn’t look happy, solar storm whispered something to him then father looked at me and mother “ we will rest here” he said the four of use came together and slept
I awoke in the morning my parents asleep still I herd a screech above I looked up a young eagle was above he flue down and tugged my mane then flue back up then did it again I started to walk the way he was pulling me, soon me and him where racing then we stoped
He had taken me to a field. A place to call home
