(Spirit)-So there we were, nuzzling in the midnight blue. We looked up at the endless array of stars and looked into each other's eyes. "Those stars, no matter how many there are, will never, ever shine as bright as you..." I said to Rain. She sighed and said "You flatter me..." and licked my muzzle. I pricked my ears forward, and lost myself in her eyes that reflected the stars. She started to lay down,then looked up at me and cocked her head a little. I smiled, and layed down beside her. I rested my head on hers, and brushed her forelock out of her face with my muzzle. She giigled a little and looked up at me, " You know, I can't tell you how much i love you..." And I was speechless for a moment, and smiled at her, "Yeah, but that's hard to believe because I love you more than anything.." Her eyes sparkled as she smiled up at me. We nuzzled and touched noses before saying goodnight.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Spirit)-After getting lost in my dreams of Rain and the herd, it was morning. i opened my eyes to see Rain still sleeping beside me, and the others close by. Only one was up, my mother, Esperenza. And,can't forget the foals. Always up and ready they are.I whinnied quietly to her and smiled a little to let her know I was up. Before long, Rain woke up. She looked up at me and said "Good Morning" I said the same and nickered to her. Before long, everyone in the herd was up. Around noon after we all grazed a bit, we went for a run. Rain was a bit slower than the rest though. Funny because every morning, it takes her longer and longer to get up with me. I don't know why. Maybe Esperanza knows, because, you know mares...

I whinied to my mother  for her to come over. "Hey, I was wondering if you could tqaqlk to Rain for me?" I asked her. "Ummm...Sure.But what for?" I looked at Rain""Cause she's a little different lately, and i don't know what it is." She gave me a weird smile and nodded. She went over to lay next to Rain and I watched her.Rain panted heavy and Esperenza nuzzled her. Rain let out a whinny and pushed out the forelegs of a foal. I pricked my ears and smiled. She neighed as she pushed out the rest of outr newborn foals. My mother nuzzled her once more then go up and left. I walked over to see Rain lick our newborn foal. "It's a colt." She said with a smile. "Fury." I said right after. She nodded in agreement and I laid down next to the foal. He had my color, but the eyes and paint patches of his mother. I nibbled his little forelock and then got up as Rain did. She nudged the foal up onto his wobbly legs and I guided him to Rain's milk. I smiled and nuzzled Rain. A new beginning.

        Weeks later, all of us were enjoying this nice Spring weather. We all gathered by the river for a drink and then Fury came up to me. "Hi daddy!!" He said with a grin. I couldn't help but smile. "Hello Fury" I said nuzzling him. I flicked an ear back as I heard Rain chuckle next to me. Fury then nipped at my ear and I decided to play along. I give him a gentle push and then reared, pawing the air. I laughed as Fury thrust himself at me and laughed when he couldn't knock me down. Rain looked over at us and watched us play together under the warm sun.I became tired and layed down as Fury nibbled at my forelock playfully. I nudged him a bit with my muzzle "Don't you wanna play with the other foals?" Fury smiled "I forgot!! Bye dad!!" I smiled as I watched him immmediately go to a group of foals and jump into play. Rain came over and laid next to me, and I nuzzled her. We smiled as Esperanza smiled at the foals playing together. "You know, Spirit, your son reminds me of you." My mother said to me. I looked back at my foal days and then agreed that we were almost the same. He will be a good stallion one day I thought.

                  We left the river and went back to our homeland to graze. Fury is now only a few months, so he still feeds off of Rain's milk. But, he is growing strong. I lifted my head and sniffed the air. I didn't want any predators ruining this great day. I couldn't detect anything, so I put my head back down to graze. I pricked my ears forward and picked my head up at a sudden whinny. It was a stallion. I flared my nostrils and turned around. I then saw a big brown flash from the trees. It was Jack. He is my rival. He was born by Strider, but was lost for years as his mother was kicked out of this herd by Esperenza when she was leadmare. I reared and cantered over to Jack "What do you want?" I asked angrily. He tilted his head. "You know what I want." He said with an evil grin. I snorted "Well you cant have it." He reared and struck at me, but didn't knock me down. I reared and struck at his face, leaving a scar. But, I turned around and he kicked me, now knocking me down to the ground. I was unable to move. Fury came in at full speed and bit the leg of Jack. "Fury, get away!!" I yelled at him. He couldn't hear me. Jack put an ear back and saw Fury. He brought his leg up, ready to kick Fury when Rain came over and kicked Jack in the stomach, knocking him down. Fury then pounced on top of Jack and stomped on him. Jack then begged for mercy, and we let him go. I was in shock as Rain and Fury, and the rest of the herd came over to see me. I looked at Fury, proud of him, and Rain.
