Last time in the fanfic, Starlight: Chapter two...... Ahead of me, I could see the river end, and I heard the waterfall crashing on the rocks at the bottom. In a short time, the waterfall effortlessly threw me down to the bottom.
When I fell to the bottom of the waterfall, I quickly jumped onto a large piece of driftwood. Luckily, it could support my weight, and I floated down the river. It was gentler, and I knew there couldn't be anymore waterfalls. The driftwood carried me for miles, and I couldn't see T.J. anymore. I was completly alone. That night, I didn't sleep at all; my thoughts kept me awake. My life was miserable. I was alone. Spirit would come looking for me in two weeks if I didn't get home. I would never see Rain, Night Hawk, or Silver Owl again. The river came to an end, and I could finally touch my hooves on solid ground. I was starving, and I quickly started grazing. Ahead of me, all that was there was miles of sweet grass. There would be no food problem. To my right, there was a small forest. It would be a nice hiding spot from humans and predators. And of course there was the huge river behind me; no drinking problem. This would be a perfect place to live. If only there were other horses there. "Starlight?" I shuddered, and trotted into the forest. " Starlight, is that you?," said the voice again, this time more excitedly. The horse seemed excited to see me, although I had no idea who he was or how he knew my name. " Don't you remember me? It's me, Shawn!" Oh boy, did that set me running. I don't think I had ever run faster in my life." Wait, wait!" That didn't slow me down, not by a long shot. For one point in my life, it was just starting to get good, until Shawn came along. I could hear him galloping behind me, his hoofbeats getting closer by the second. " Starlight, wait," he yelled," Your father sent me here to look for you." That was just enough to make me stop straight in my tracks. My father was sending the herd out again. Hadn't he learned from last time? I gave him a puzzled look. "Uh, yeah, your dad sent me and a few other horses out to look for you," he said nervously. I rolled my eyes and trotted away in disbelief. "Starlight? Don't you want to go home?" I did, just not with the same colt that had ruined my foalhood. Sighing, I decided it was worth going home. But I'd rather go home with a human riding a couger and a wolf than with Shawn. I followed him through miles of grass, but it took much longer to get there since Shawn stopped for a snack break every fifteen minutes. He noticed that I was getting annoyed, and surprisingly he didn't take a snack break for a long while. We were walking through a forest, and I reconized it as the same on where I had come ashore. " I know what you're thinking, were going in circles, I know." I gave him a glare, and took charge. But I couldn't take charge for long, because just then, the sun started to set. We found a safe place to rest, and I was grateful for it, but I refused to sleep next to Shawn. " Look, I know I was mean to you before, but that was in the past," he said," Can't you forgive me?" As always, I couldn't answer, but what he said really touched me. I fell asleep thinking about it. It was as if Shawn really cared. But I could never be too sure; afterall, it could all just be one, big prank. He would have to prove himself before I would forgive him. "Starlight! Starlight!," a voice yelled in my ear," Wake up, wake up!" I was jolted awake, but this time I wasn't sleep walking. It was very early in the morning, the sun was just starting to rise. " Starlight, I hear something," he said. " It might be a cougar." I glared at him, just knowing it had to be a prank, and layed back down. Suddenly, all in one moment, I heard a cat's roar, and a terrifying shriek. The cougar Shawn had warned me about wasn't a prank at all, he had been telling the truth. At that moment, I wished I had shielded my eyes.( No worries, I won't explain this part to you) I fought off the cougar, and ran to his side and layed down beside him. I still couldn't believe I was accually caring about someone who had ruined my life, but something in me made me care for him. Shawn was badly injured. He was covered in cuts and tears, and I wasn't sure if he would survive the night, or if the cougar would return. " Whoa! What happened here?" The filly shocked me. She was very tall, dark grey, and she had lots of Indian marks on her, along with a feather tied into her mane. " My name's Miyah," she said," What's wrong with your friend?" When I didn't answer, she seemed to get mad. " She can't talk," muttered Shawn. " Oh, sorry to hear that." Miyah said," I'll go get my master, he'll know what to do." She trotted off into the forest. About an hour later, Miyah trotted back, but this time with her master. The indian jumped off, inspecting Shawn's wounds. I was frightened and nervous to have this human so close, but he was helping Shawn, thus bringing my fear levels down. " Oh, boy," said the indian," I don't know if this horse will make it. Don't worry boy, I'll be right back." The indian left running. " That's my master, Little Creek, he's kind and gentle to me, espeacially after my mum died..." She quickly stopped talking. " Nevermind." Miyah hung her head low, and seemed to be thinking. We heard hoofbeats coming from the forest, and we thought it was Little Creek, but instead, it was one of the worst of living things on the planet. The Colonel. He was staring at us with his beady little eyes, and I could tell he reconized Shawn and I, but his eyebrows flew up when he saw Miyah. " Hmm, I thought I shot that horse and it's mother a long while ago." I saw a tear fall down Miyah's eye, and now I knew why she had stopped short while talking. My heart fell for her. But just then, my attention was drawn to the silent Little Creek, sneaking up on the Colonel. He quickly slapped the horse on the rump, and with a shock, uncontrolibly bolted, and that gave us awhile before the Colonel came back. First, Little Creek tied ropes to Miyah and I, and tied a large canvas on behind us. Slowly and gently, he pulled Shawn onto the canvas. He quickly got to leading us back to his homeland. It was only a few minute walk, but I was tired and groggy, so it felt like over an hour. We finally reached his home, where a female human came running to us. " Oh, Little Creek, what happened?" Shhh," Little Creek whispered," Two new horses, and I don't want to spook them." I didn't like the sound of him saying "two NEW horses" . He had better not be thinking about keeping us. "The lady there is Quiet Rain, she's Little Creek's younger sister," explained Miyah. Little Creek carefully tied bandages to Shawn's wounds. Quiet Rain came over to me and tried to pet my nose, but I jerked back. I wasn't about to let a strange human touch me. Little did she know that I was wild, and right when Shawn was better, we would take off. At least then Quiet Rain stayed away from me. Miyah frowned at me, but I had no idea what I had done wrong. Shawn groaned in pain when Little Creek put banages on his wounds. "Easy boy," Little Creek soothed," you're gonna be just fine." I looked around at my temperary home. There were children running around playing with small puppies. Women were cooking meat over fires, and a few horses were chatting and grazing together. One of the horses was being painted by an indian, first a handprint was splashed on, then a circle around the horse's eye. I rolled my eyes and turned back to Shawn. He was sitting up now, a good sign that he was going to be fine. The sun started to set, and I couldn't believe how fast the day had pasted. Shawn and Miyah yawned, and I couldn't help myself; I yawned too. " I think your new horses are tired, you should put them in the corral," said Quiet Rain. I glared at her for saying 'new horses'. Would she ever stop? Little Creek nodded and led us to the corral. He left Shawn where he was, Quiet Rain was watching him. Little Creek put me and Miyah in the corral and shut the gate. Sighing and yawning at the same time, I layed down." You know," whispered Miyah," this place isn't half bad. You just have to give it a chance." I lowered my head, ignoring her statement. I could hear whinnies in the distance. At first, I thought it was the other horses in the corral, but the sound was too far away to be in the corral. I quietly stood up, as not to wake the others, and listened to the distant whinny. It sounded like a stallion, but I couldn't make out what he was saying. He reminded me that my father was coming in a week and 6 days. The mysterious stallion came closer, as if he was trying to see who I was. "Starlight?" His eyebrows flew up. "You survived the waterfall?!? I can't believe it!" I couldn't believe that T.J. had found me. " Hey, who's your friend?" asked the now awake Miyah. " I'm, uh,uh, T.J." he stammered nervously. " Hey, what's wrong?" Miyah asked. " Uh, nothing." replied T.J. " Anyway, Starlight, what are you doing here? There's a great way to get out!" I tilted my head toward the wounded Shawn, now sleeping. "Oh, sorry to hear that," he said," When your friend gets better, gallop
