horse was speaking again, "Leave now, and statr your mission straight away. Do NOT fail this task."

Halt and Solitude walked to the other end of the stables and went to sleep. That morning Halt and Solitude were tied up after command training so they were just on the other side of the fence from the dun. Halt rumbled his chest the way horses do when they are upset so Solitude spoke up, "Good morning brother." He said to the stallion, and in reply the dun said, "It is anything but. For although the sky is bright i long to be in the rain with my family." Solitude couldnt disagree with that, he loved the rain but he knew the dun didnt care about the weather, "My names Solitude stranger." the dun tossed his tail. We got ourselves a lively one, Solitude thought sourly. he pinned his ears against his head and went to retort to the dun but Halt kicked his hoof and shook his head. Halt waited a few minutes then said, "So.... horse, what kind of oats do you eat in your land?" Halt winked at Solitude (spirit is facing other way) the dun replied, "Oats?" Halt said, "You haven't heard of oats?! whoa fella you gotta become one of us, we live like kings in here!" The dun snorted.

Things went on like this for some time and when the dun escaped the lead scouteed and the colonels lead horse were thrown into a fury and turned on Solitude who unfortunatly was closest to the violate horses. Halt cried in despair but whenever he tried to help his friend but was restrained by his bridle which was futher away on the post (they had come back from a night scouting) so the black horse was left to watch his friend be beaten. This wasn't the life he wanted, he needed to get out of here.
