Spirit & Rain were visiting Esperanza and they had some great news for her! They were going to have a foal. When they saw her she was grazing happily under a small tree. This was where she was most of the time now, as she was growing old and weak and every now and then she would lean on the tree, now was one of those times and Spirit ran to her as she was attempting to walk towards them but her knees were buckling beneath her. He managed to catch her before she fell though! Rain trotted worriedly to her side. "Esperanza? Are you okay?" She asked, Rain had become incredibly close to Spirit's mother recently, as she had helped them through the tough times when they had argued and usually, even though Spirit was her son, Esperanza had taken Rain's side. "Yes, Rain, I'm fine. Just a tad wobbly." Esperanza reassured her. Spirit rolled his eyes as his mother laid down. "Mother, me and Rain have some news for you." Spirit's happy tone made Esperanza's ears prick up. "Go on." She said calmly. "Well Esperanza... We are going to have a foal!" Rain squealed excitedly. "Well, thats excellent Rain! Congratulations!! Just hope he or she is not like Spirit here." Esperanza grinned and looked up at her son. Spirit simply made a sarcastic little grin, "Why?" Rain asked suddenly confused. "He was the biggest trouble maker in the herd, once he even got his tongue stuck to an icicle." Esperanza giggled, Rain laughed too, for she had never herd any stories about Spirit as a foal. "We had better go, I must tell the others." Rain said and nuzzled Esperanza lightly, "Goodbye Rain!" She paused and whispered, "Goodbye little one!" "See ya ma." Spirit gently nuzzled his mother as Rain had. Then they left. "Why does she always have to say the most embarrassing things?" Spirit muttered. "I thought it was cute!" Rain smiled.   "Hey, look Hawk! Its uncle Spirit!" Robin, one of the young stallion twins, exclaimed. Hawk, his twin, raced over to Spirit. "Hey there boys!" Spirit was rather attached to these twins. He had watched them grow up and enjoyed to watch their little races with the other young stallions. "Hey uncle Spirit! Wanna race us?" Hawk asked, "We can't find anyone to race us... They all say were to fast!" Robin sighed. Spirit looked back at Rain who nodded enthusiastically, "Sure!" Spirit nodded. And the 3 stallions lined up, "3,2,1...GO!!!" Rain said loudly. And they were off in a shot, "Eat my dust!" Hawk shouted as he raced ahead. But soon he realised that he was growing out of breath and had to slow up leaving Spirit in the lead. And when they had reached the tree at the end of the clearing. Which was always their decided finish, Spirit stopped and simply said, "Try racing an Eagle for training boys... It helps." And trotted back to Rain who was waiting with the boys mother, Sky, "You know Spirit you really shouldn't provoke them." Sky laughed. "But you keep them healthy."   A few months later and a young foal was born, she was a dark brown with black at the front of her mane and cream at the back her tail was also cream and she had 2 cream spots above her right leg. She was looking up at Rain grinning. Spirit looked down at her, "You know I thought we could call her Morning." Spirit said. "I though maybe Arrow?" Rain looked down at her newborn baby daughter and smiled. Esperanza who had been their all through the birth said, "Why don't you call her Morning Arrow?" Spirit looked at his new daughter and grinned. "Its perfect." He said. "Simply Perfect." Rain grinned.    And that was how Morning Arrow’s life began. Her parents had separate nicknames for her. Her father called her Morning. And her mother called her Arrow, as did all her friends. One day she was in the field with a group of fillies whose names were, Rose Petal, Sunray & Flight. They were all friends, but they argued a lot. They were all talking about the big event of the deer arriving in the forest just over the road, when a young colt walked past them. He heard his chance to talk to the girls when he heard them talking about the deer. “Look out, Phillip’s about!” Sunray whispered. “Hey ladies!” Phillip (The young colt) said to the girls as he began trotting over to them. “I know some deer.” He grinned. Phillip was a ladies man, he admitted it even to himself! And he didn’t particularly care.  “Really?” Morning Arrow was unconvinced that he had even seen a deer. “What did it look like then?” She asked. “Well,” Phillip stopped momentarily pretending to think, in actual fact he had never seen a deer, “They look like us… But the have big ears and… They have fire and smoke coming out of their noses. They’re really dangerous. And I fought one off!” He grinned expectantly. Morning Arrow looked around at the other fillies and noticed they were all gazing open-mouthed at Phillip. They can’t have taken him seriously… Can they? “Yeah right!? You couldn’t fight a mouse!” She said and stomped off, but Phillip galloped after her. “Well… I’ll show you then! Tonight me, you, deer, forest, be there if you dare!” Phillip confidently said, expecting Morning Arrow to back down. “Alright then! Meet you when the moon is at its highest!” She turned and cantered away, Phillip’s mouth swung wide open. “Uh Oh!” Were his only words.   When the moon was at its highest and all the herd except Morning Arrow and Phillip were asleep. The two foals were walking nervously (Well Phillip was nervous and Morning Arrow was more excited) towards the forest. “So if you met a deer, what did you do to fight him off?” Morning Arrow enjoyed tormenting Phillip, “Well I kicked him…” Phillip shivered, even though it was a warm summers night, Phillip had let his imagination go wild with ideas of what deer could actually be. “You know… Where it hurts!” He found himself giggling at the thought of him, a tiny foal, kicking a giant beast. Phillip and Morning Arrow, even though she did not believe in the tales that Phillip told, found themselves talking for hours of the Deer, their tales so frightening and magnificent the word now deserved a capital letter, that had moved to the forest. They soon realised that there was another noise, other than the rustling of their hooves and the sound of their voices. There was a snapping of twigs, “Wha-What if it’s a Deer?” Phillip whispered, “Or worse a mountain lion?” His teeth were chattering and his knees were buckling beneath his body.  “Well, we could always you know… Run?!” Morning Arrow whispered back. But she felt her body stiffen and Phillip’s body stiffen beside her, so there was no chance of that. Then out of the bushes walked a… Thing. Morning Arrow didn’t know what it was and it was guaranteed that Phillip didn’t either. It looked like a horse but it had no mane and large horns upon its head. It was the thing that spoke first,  “What are two fine young foals like yourselves doing way out here?” It asked. “We were hunting for deer.” Morning Arrow replied. “Oh really. Were you successful?” The thing asked. “Nope. We only found you… What exactly are you?” Morning arrow replied inquisitively. “I am a deer.” The thing, now a deer in the foals minds, grinned. But Morning Arrow turned to Phillip. “Do you see any fire coming out of his nose? Huh do you?” She shouted at him. She wasn’t angry just trying to show him his place. Then she turned back to the deer, “What’s your name?” She asked. “My name is Apatcho, and I am prince of the deer who live in these parts.” “Oh.” Was all she could say.   Later on in life and Morning Arrow had grown into a beautiful young mare. And of course was still followed around by Phillip, who she had to admit was quite a handsome young stallion, “Hey there hot stuff!” Phillip called across the field. But Morning Arrow turned and shot him a look that made him stop in hoof tracks. So he just grinned and trotted up to her.  “I’m leaving.” Morning Arrow whispered. Phillip was stunned, was she pulling a prank or was she serious? “What. Really?” He asked “Mm Hm!” Morning Arrow said. Then Spirit walked by them, Morning Arrow ran to her father. “Hi Daddy!” She said perkily, “Hey there Morning.” Spirit stopped and began to graze on the grass. “ I want to leave.” Morning Arrow told her father. Spirit almost spat out his grass. “Wha-What?!” He asked, he felt she had only been born yesterday, and he didn’t want to see his daughter go, “Here comes your mother… Why don’t you ask her?” He said trying to hold back tears. “Hey Momma!” Morning Arrow said, and ran up to her mother, Rain. “Hello Arrow!” Rain said happily. “I Wanna leave, not forever just to find adventure and stuff.” Morning Arrow said, the excitement making her jump up and down on the spot. Rain was speechless and she knew her
