Red Roan Fail = Sherbert Colored Coolness

I was playing around with my colors, trying to figure out the perfect red roan color without making it too "sparkly" or "brownish." If I had gotten it right, it would have been a body pic for my role-play horse Tempest. I'm trying to give her a reddish coat color to reflect on her fiery nature, but it hasn't worked so far.

Any tips on how to make a good roan color or on anything else would be appreciated.
