Hmm, that's a useful way of getting the proportions right. I always seem to end up with heads that are far too big ^^;

Yep, that seems to be the best way ^^ It just helps to keep everything in proportion. My gran once told me a really useful trick: The length of the head, from pole to the end of the muzzle, should be roughly the same length as from the hip to the end of the hindquarters ^^

Brilliant, Mystic ^^ I do much the same thing with my drawings; start off with shapes; circles, tubes etc and build the body around it.
