Thorn -Rain's Sire-

Thorn -Rain's Sire-

Please don't comment with the fact that Rain already has parents!!!!! I know!!!!

This is my thought on what Rain's father looked like.

This guy's story: Born and raised in the Steens Mountains of Burns, Oregon, he was captured as a yearling by a Paiute Indian brave and given as a gift to the young man's father. The young colt was trained and became a great warrior's mount. When Thorn turned 7, the Paiute tribe was attacked by the US Cavalry and Thorn, along with several other Indian horses was taken as spoils of war to the Cimarron Valley, where the Cavalry also invaded some Lakota tribes. During one of the invasions, Thorn escaped into the wild. But, after being with humans for so long, he craved their companionship, and began hanging out on the outskirts of another Lakota encampment. He was eventually taken in by the chief and given to the chief's son, Little Creek, who was only about 12 years old at the time. Little Creek had recently captured and was training a wild mare named Rose. Rose and Thorn hit it off immediately, and a year later, their daughter, Rain was born.

Thorn sadly died a few years later in a freak accident during a buffalo hunt. A young brave who was riding ahead of him dropped his bow, and Thorn became entangled in it and tripped. He fell directly in front of a charging bull bison. Neither him nor his rider survived. Luckily, Little Creek was not riding him that day. Little Creek was devastated by the event and took to Rain for comfort. She became his new mount.

Done with colored pencils.
