It was heading towards winter, and Spirit had not come back from being taken by Wranglers. Kiger, currently the stallion in charge in his brother's absence, paced through the herd; they were generally happy, healthy at least, and the weather was good for the time of year. Winter would be mild.
Only one horse, was obviously sad - miserable in fact: Kiger and Spirit's mother, Esperanza. She stood on the fringe of the herd, head low and staring out towards the distant rocky country where her son had been captured.
Kiger did not allow his cheerful mood to become deflated at the sight of this heartbreaking, silent pining. He went up to his mama, and gave her a gentle nudge.
'Don't worry, Mother. He'll come back . . . '

I've been wanting to draw a pic of Kiger - and more later on too! This focuses on part of his history, just a small scene dedicated to Pawface :)
