Troll Berserker
I thought this topic regarding sparkle and unrelated characters applied for every source on AS, but I see way too many unrelated characters here on Spirit Source, even one in Must See section. So are they allowed or not? And should I report them?
If unrelated characters are allowed, well... That's quide sad. Moderators should really consider changing site rules. Animation Source is meant to be a fan site. This is why this one is called Spirit Source, not Horses Source...

Why would you make a non related character on a site made to appreciate a cartoon? WHAT is the point of a horse that lives in England in the modern days on here?
I quote you Troll, this is a Spirit fansite, not Horse Source. If you want a non related character, simply send it to DA.
Kat--> I really hope Steet answers D: as I've already said plenty of times, why should SS be "different" from the other sites?

And even I'm confused about the character relations. There is no clear rule saying that they are or are not allowed. I know that Saske, Moss and I all think un-related characters shouldn't be allowed (And I'm sure all the other mods think so too) BUT we should ask Steet about this. It is his site afterall. (He's been more active recently so I hope he will answer soon)

On Balto Source we don't allow any unrelated characters anyway, and so Saske said about this source before, so I'm a bit confused. Like I said, moderators should think about it really. It's a fan site.
"Another important factor. Your first few characters MUST be related to an official Balto character. Our webmaster said when it comes to relation to an official site character, it is more of a ratio. So try to keep the majority of your characters with a relation to the an official characters that is part of the movie."
(Found here: http://www.animationsource.org [...] ents/Character_Rules/3308.html)
This could mean either:
1- Your first characters must be related to the official characters, but the rest still should be related to the film.
Or 2- Your first characters must be related to the official characters, but some of your characters can be un-related.
I PMed Steet (Sometime ago) asking about the ratio (If any) from related: Unrelated. He hasn't replied yet but hopefully he will.
I also disagree with un-related characters and I think they shouldn't be allowed altogether, but I'm not aware of a rule that says they're not allowed (Approved by Steet, that is). And us mods don't want to be creating rules without Steet's permission first.

I try my best to make most of my characters related to the specific source somehow.

Now when you gave me the link to what Saske said, I'm sure those rules apply here too. Moderators are just too lazy/careless to notice those characters, especially when they are well made.

On the other hand, if we weren't allowed them, then why would there still be the option to choose 'Not Spirit Related' for our characters?
I must admit, this issue does confuse me a great deal. After all, surely characters that don't have any relationship with the official characters, aside from being in their 'universe', are more unique and imaginative, and much less likely to fall into the trap of being Mary Sues/Gary Stus. But Troll's point is also very valid; This IS a fan site, after all. If people want to make characters that have absolutely no connection to official Spirit characters, there are better sites to use them on, such as deviantART or horse RPs.

but i do agree this has become a character storage for horses
