Can fanfics include or be about characters that are not officially registered as characters on Spirit Source? Meaning, can you just make up a name for a character and write a fanfic about them without going through the whole process of making character pictures and writing a bio?
I'm not trying to get out of the whole process of making characters, I just do not know how to make character pictures, which keeps me from being able to write fanfics as I am not able to make characters. Even if I was able to make characters, I think it would be difficult to make character bios for every horse that appears in a fanfic.
I would really appreciate anybody who could answer my question. Thanks to all answers!

Hi. First off, welcome to SS ^^ I hope you like it here. Your question is a very good one, and although I’m not a moderator or have much involvement with fanfics, I’ll do my best to help answer your question. As far as I’m concerned, you don’t have to make a profile for every character you write about in your stories. That would be impossible, especially if they’re only minor characters. After all, Spirit Source doesn’t have profiles for every member of the Cimarron Herd, but you can still write about them. However, if your character is a main character in your story, I would encourage you to make them a profile. Not only will it help you, and your readers, to visualise your character, it will also give you a base for their story and their personality, so you can refer back to it when writing. If you don’t have a clearly thought out profile for your character you might end up with continuity and personality errors in your story. Don’t forget, if you write Spirit fanfiction, you must have at least one official character in your story. |
I hope this helps, and if you need more advice I’m always happy to assist. And if you’re still stuck, I’d be more than happy to make you some character images for your profiles.
