Before I start lets please take in consideration:
1. I do not know what this would be classified in, so please be nice. ( For Example: Questions, Projects, Articles. )
2. I do not want to offend any younger members.
3. Do not fight, I am not on here to start a fight. I'm just stating some things that should be reviewed. ( However this is about Spirit Source )
and 4. Tell me if I'm wrong and what should this be enlisted in.
So recently, and in the past, everyone has spotted new members popping up and most are very young. Although some are older, but like I said most are young. I know this site is for younger children, but should there be a limit on how old they can be to join? Not that I'm picking on all younger members, because they're are younger members who can abide by the rules. However most of the newer ( and still some younger members who have been on here for a long amount of time ) don't abide by the rules. Most never read the rules, they steal, become imposters, and most of the time don't make characters that match the terms and rules. Along with that, younger members use SMS instead of correct grammar. Yes, Even the older members still make mistakes in their grammar and sentences, but shouldn't you at least be old enough to write a correct sentence or at least one somebody understands? As well as spamming and asking to make a mate for every character they see just because they are gorgeous. Again Yes, many members has had a point in time where they wanted to make mates for tons of characters, but when they spam about it isn't that a little out of control? Not only that, it would cut down on a lot of reports on younger members. This is just a suggestion, I'm not saying you should because you can't really control who lies about their age, but shouldn't there be a test to see if you're okay'd to become a member on the site? Thanks, and again this is a question I'm not forcing this upon anybody I'm just wondering. ^.^

Okay... Well, seeing is this site is aimed at children, we're going to have a lot of text-typers, and if you think about it, when has ANYONE read the terms and agreement as well as the rules.
A lot of younger members, and I mean the ones that're about -7 - 10 can't spell all that good so they spell things how the think it should look, they do this sub-consciously, meaning without realizing it. Us older members sort of... guide the younger members into doing the right thing, whether it be an accidental theft or not.
Young members take images from other places because... Well, it's from google, they don't know taking things from there is wrong, and they grow up knowing this is a good thing, that's why there are people to say 'no, this isn't right' and stop them, they might crack it, they might under stand and start doing what's right. There's been few chances that I've seen over my years online, and I don't mean on the sources, that people are just down right pathetic, I'm talking about someone who's stolen from the Dragon Booster forums, that's the only largest issue I have seen.
As for the mate thing for pretty/awesome characters, I'm sorry to say, but I've noticed that you too do this, I understand that people in general want to have some sort of relationship with a character they like, and it's a hard habit to stop, you don't need to stop, it's just a choice to make, but because there's been less and less characters on SS showing up, this isn't a large issue, nor is it ever going to be, the main issue is reading whether an OC is available or not and who it's available to, some characters might be unavailable to the public, but to a close friend it MIGHT be an exception. It also depends on how harsh you are on the user.

Yes, I understand and like again I put even some older members do act
the same way. I'm not judging all the younger members for this because
I even know some younger mature members too. I get where I forget
about this is actually a site for little kids. |

You can't always judge people by their age. Sure most of n00bs are
young kids, but I've met 14 years old who acted really nice and mature
and stupid people 4 years older than them. Main issue is that they
just don't know how to act in internet community and follow their
rules. Meh, I did that n00by stuff when I was 13 and joined my first
forum About the "mates" - almost everyone is doing this. Unless at least 50% of the people here will learn that having fan characters is not all about desperately finding them mates - nothing will change. |
