I'd like to know the location of some movie places: Crimmaron herd teritory, Cavalary camp, Lakota village. I know that train scene takes place somewhere in Utah but that's far away from other locations.

The "Cimarron," historically, is the pan-handle of Oklahoma. Considering the settings in the movie, I personally believe the movie took place through that pan-handle, Colorado, and Utah.

The REAL Spirit lives in Ohio, and the movie was based on him, so I'd say Ohio. Hope this helps some^^~

I have to agree with Kirada, because I live in Oklahoma and since I live in Okie Land i also take OK History. They say the Lakotans ( also known as the Sioux ) lived in the Oklahoma to *I think * Colorado or Dakota range. Also Im not very sure, but I Believe that the Cimarron herd lived in between Utah and Colorado because of the mountains. Im guessing though .

i don't know US land marks very well but in the book they call a mountain range Sierra ,i'm not sure where that is but i am guessing Oklahoma Bonita lived near san antonio
