Are paint/pinto foals born with there markings or do as they grow gain there markings.

The pinto colouration is present from birth: all pinto foals will be born with the markings they'll have as adults. They're not like Dalmatian puppies; they're born with the white patches already on their bodies.
Sometimes, as foals grow up, their coat will change colour. For example, some bay foals are born with pale legs, and only develop black points when they're a bit older. In addition, some foals can be born with a dorsal stripe, even if they don't have the dun gene, but it disappears as they age. And grey/gray horses are never born pale/white; they get whiter as they age. But the gene that affect pinto colors (overo, tobiano, sabino etc) will be visible from birth.
