Asking another artist to "Mentor" you can be trying, because what
works for them may not work for you, you just need to explore and
discover what and what not techniques you like better as an artist.
And Practice Practice Practice, and you should practice, with some more practice with a side of practice, and a dash of practice, with some reference shots, and some practice, and observe horses in real life, with some practice, and some good drawing books, and practice and friends who aren't afraid to critique (all of my friends, even the non artists just thing EVERYTHING I do is epic and untouchable and it really really really irritates me I think it's because they don't want to hurt my feelings but yeah) and some more practice, with some patience, and some practice, and a lot of time, and a burrito and some oreos and your favorite soda and I think you'll be all set ![]() |

Practice may make perfect, but friendless makes "perfect" a low
standard. Meet up with some other artists and just be friend with
them. I get critique from friends, even non-artists, all the time.
Just because they can't draw like a deity doesn't mean they can't give
you an opinion. Also, check out some books in the library. Barnes & Noble has an amazing animal drawing book... with a chapter ALL for horses ... for $21.99. Look in book stores, on-line (for a used copy), so forth. Learn from professionals as well as commons. |
