The RolePlayer
Hello,
I was searching threw all the drawings, and I noticed that all the Must See drawings are mouse or computer made. Why? I was thinking there should be drawn Must See images, that's why thay are call drawings, because thay are drawn. So don't you think there should be drawn Must Sees and not computerized ones? Plus with the computer you get to have a whole bunch of brushes to help you, drawings all you have are a pencil, maybe a pen, and colored pencils or crayons. When people draw, they put part of them selves in every drawing or painting. On the computer you can't do that. I was just thinking, shouldn't they be Drawings?
Thank you,
K.S. T.RP.

Most drawings are hand drawn then scanned in and colored digitally
like a render (like mine), so technically they're still drawings. If a
drawing is 100% digital then it must have taken a lot of skill,
digital drawing is even harder than just drawing with a pencil and
scanning it. |

them they can take hours even days to do |
I used to think similar. With the aid of digital art, it isn't the same as holding a paintbrush in hand. On the contrary I was wrong. After I lost my scanner cords and could no longer scan my traditional artwork, I purchased a tablet. Here are a few things I discovered:
MONETARY VALUE
Best $70 I ever spent. Ever. The tablet has saved me from replenishing art supplies (papers, pencils, lead, etc.) every few months. I'm using them less (but still using them) and doing a lot of sketching on my computer.
SKILL
It actually takes a great amount of skill and knowledge to learn how to make the digital art world "work." Sure, anyone can paint in MS Paint... but it takes a lot of patience and talent to do THIS ( http://navybluestar.deviantart.com/art/Over-again-186028948 ). Just as much patience and skill that it would take to do THIS ( http://mustang-thunder.deviantart.com/art/Radar-206574777 ).
Sure, the program(s) have a bunch of pre-set brushes that "simulate" traditional paint brushes. No matter how true, just like with traditional paint -- the artist has to know how to apply it to their work. It's not as simple as click the brush and go. You have to change the colors, brush settings, brush size, etc. depending on what part of the picture(s) you're working on.
Not only am I saving money with my SAI, Photoshop, Corel Painter, and sketcher programs (such as on the site), but I'm learning to adapt to the art world. That's the funny thing about art; it's CONSTANTLY changing. And if the artists don't change with it, many of them vanish.
