From what I remember there was talk of a sequal in the early stages of the making but due to Spirit not being that popular a movie decided against it. I've seen no actual proof of this however. I personally beleive Dreamworks never intended Spirit to have a sequal and if they did all the new 3-d movies coming out Spirit 2 just didn't make the cut anymore.

Actually, this IS true. I remember hearing about this when I was younger and a huge fan of Spirit. It was in the making but Dreamworks had to shut it down due to the lack of money to keep the film going.

yeah, i think that dreamworks never even planned on making a sequel after spirit's flop at the theatres.
it cost $80 million to make and only earned a domestic gross of $73 million (or something like that, there are so many different 'gross' meanings...), so essentially the company LOST money over it, and the toys, posters and stuff were a final attempt to claw back a few million and balance out the losses.

probably not there so many fake out video's of spirit to and convenceing fanmade spirit 2 videos (not just the youtube crap) that people have thought that there really was a part ttwo in the works. many people do not read discirption of artist/creator comments below fanworks or fanmade video's and they tend to me the ones goign around saying this like "they was goign to be one but it was cancled" or " OMG!!!!! THERE'S GOING TO BE A SPIRIT 2!!!11!".......more than not it's untrue and jsut another Web spread rumor, desides that factor, even it it was in the making and got cancled there is almost always some lagit proof, like a poster, or some type of advertisement that sliped out or that some one leek out into the media, more so know that it has been so long sence the first movie was even thought of.

and then again there's the fact that they never showed Rain as expecting a foal, and pixar/disney are very good at showing were a sequal could come in. The end of Spirit didn't leave any openings for a part 2.

further more if there was a sequal after all these years it would have already been out as a story book, either doen by Duey's "spirit of the Cimarron" seires or by other story book, childerns book makers, like all of the various cheap, 2-5 dollar 10 paged books you can get at walmart or toysRus.
