Shouldn't it be agenst the rules if a user puts something as a relation to spirit like " meet him once" or " is spirits friend" or "is rains friend" but does not explain in the slitest bit in the History HOW they met him, HOW they are one of the main characters friends? i mean it's cheating the rules which is in a since breaking the unwriten "comonsence" rules talked about in the site Full list of rules. so If it was reported would the characters page be Deactivated?

I agree with GemmaWolf. I think it's fairest for a mod to go ahead and
activate the suggested character, but then send the creator a PM
asking him/her to update his/her character BEFORE it gets deactivated.
I am somewhat speaking from experience, but I don't believe it's fair
to deactivate a character because their is one minor problem in it's
profile(i.e. a connection to Spirit that doesn't have much detail.) It
takes a lot of work to create a character, and I think the mods
understand that, they are just to strict. It's very stressful to wait
for days to have a character activated, only to learn that they were
rejected because of a lack of detail, or a minor problem, and then to
have to edit the character and send them back in to wait even
longer... I had this problem with my character, Sage. He didn't have
much of a connection to Spirit, so I had to be creative, and I changed
the history of his mate, so that she was actually once part of
Spirit's herd, and Sage had to fight Spirit himself for rights to her.
I think this problem can be sloved 2 ways: 1: the mods make some
compromises and activate the character but give the creator a PM
warning; 2: or the creator compromises (like I had to do) and get
creative and give the current connection a little more life. Hope this helps! ![]() |

i think it would be ok if you could quickly type that to get your
character activated, but then receive a pm saying that you need to
update your character's page and add more detail. when you create a
character, you fill in everything (which can take a long time) and
then you send it off to be activated. there isnt anything like with
fanfics, where you create it, edit it, then send it off once you've
completed it. i think this is needed to stop rushed character profiles
and minor connections. |
as you said it does take time to create a character page, but you should never do anything half way, it's in the rules you know it has to be in there but not explaining HOW they know the character is rubbish, it gives the reader no proof that the character even met at all, it then it has nothing to do with spirit at all it's just a regular old character, meaning it more than likely doesn't belong here. You can go to "roleplayGateway.com/net" to send in anyold OCs, but this is /Spirit/ source and you should show how they are involved in the spirit world.
It takes me mods so long to get things activated because of people doing things like this, they end up having to douple check and other things. Patience is a virtue remeber that. you can still write fanfics and make images of a character before it's activated and go back and add there icon letter when it gets activated. It's frustrating because i have seen people who barely have anytime to be on give a good character relation to spirit and tell in the history HOW they new the character how the history between their relation.
If you really don't have time to fill the whole thing out type it up in MS word or Notepad, save it and finish it in there, and then copy and past it into the character page text box.
It also frustrates most mods to see a character page that was rushed through or halfway done, and when people cheat aorund the rules, more than you think. the spirit relation rule isn't a hard one to follow, but follow it the right way. you wouldn't like it, if a Mod cheated around their rules just to Stop you guys from cheating around the rules set for us. it's the same thing. just do it right.
i'm not saying i haven't ever done this as some of my older characters are guilty of this but i have Sence stoped because i saw it was pointless and ment i was just rushing through my character pages just for the sake of people seeing the character. rushing through a characters page and cheating around the rules just tells me that the creator more than likely didn't care about the characters bio and only about the characters chance at getting faved/ getting a gift of it/ or becoming popular, which ar enot very good reason to even make a character at all.
you said that the mods are to strict, yes i used to to and in some ways they are but when it comes down to character pages, i don't think they are, you see the most half way done stuff some times, the rules just make people give more than 50% when making a character, and it keeps Spirit Source SPIRT Themed. it is spirit source, you should take the time to explain how your character in related to the spirit world in it's history or some where in it's Bio (I.E/ parents: (main character here or cameo character here), Sister: (main/cameo character here) History: ____ grew up on the outskirts of the lakota tribe), and not just Relation to Spirit: knew him/met him once/ is rain's best friend.
It's just (and i am sorry because all of this probably sounds harsh but it's driving me mad because i've /seen/ what people are truely able to do with a characters info to make is amazing) disapointing and sad.
