Welcome to the Octaliah herd! a herd with lush green grass to roam in, large trees to be protected by and beautiful flowing rivers to bathe in. It is placed a while away from the Lakota tribe and in amongst mountain ranges and cliffs. When winter comes it hits harshly with bad blizzards and many feets off snow, but in summer its serene and peaceful. A beautiful spot for foals to flourish. The herd it lead by Loki, who defends it nobly but also takes the sneaky and crude way out. He treats his mares with respect more than love but can be quite romantic.

Now here are the rules:

-No fighting over ranks

-Loki preffers grullos, paints, appaloosa's and flaxens

-You can use linearts but credit the original artist

-Any breed is allowed for any rank

-MAKE SURE YOU SEND IN BIO'S, if the bios arent sent in within a week of the entries, they wont get a chance. Sorry but too many times has it happened that people have sent in their entries but never the bios.

-If any of your mares within the herd want a foal with Loki, theres no need to ask just make the colt/fillie and i'll add them to the herd project :)

-Your entries may not have mates outside of the herd, they can have crushes outside but not mates please

Here are the ranks you can try for:

-Lead mare: Loki's mate and in charge of the decisions of the herd and keeps the herd prtected along side the lead stallion.

-Soldiers: These are the only stallions allowed in the herd, they prtect the herd with everything they've got . They can take one mate each.

-The Rainah: The rank of horses who make medicine, sing and dance for the herd and look after the pregenant mares, they are into accessorising and are always mares, they can take one mate each.

-Messengers: The small rank of messengers are actually a very important one, they deliver special news from the Octaliah herd to the tribe horses, cavalry horses and other herds. They sometimes travel long distances to deliver news.

-apprentices: These are the yearlings basically, they have no choice but to train for a rank that they'll be placed into when they are old enough, the colts are instantly trained for Soldiers but the fillies have more of a variety to choose from.

-Teachers: Also a new rank, the teachers are the ones who guid the apprentices in which path/rank they choose to be in when they are old enough. These horses are usually either older or the smartest of the herd and play a large role in the herds ways.

-Foal sitters: a new rank to the herd, these mares and sometimes stallions; are the ones in the herd who look after the foals when the rest of the herd is out or busy. They do make up an important part of the herd by their will to keep the foals safe.

-Foals: the life and joy of the herd, foals are the ones who keep loki's bloodlines going, he allows all foals to stay until they wish when they're older. They are the rank before becoming an apprentice.

-regular mares: They are just the regular mares of the herd, they do play an important role though. Keeping Loki's bloodlines going, they may only breed with Loki.

Sorry heh, Destiny's going for regular mare and Solar can be a foal-sitter and an off the side messenger, like if the others are off, in an off-chance and the herd gets attacked, so like a back-up/emergency messenger but he is tryng to be a foal-sitter, I hope that was well explained x3

Persona: He is a very kind gelding and loves foals, even if he can't have any of his own. He also loves to play games and have fun, even at 10 years of age. He also has an easy-going and cool way. Destiny grew up in that herd, fed by another mare, named Charm, who loved her adopted daughter. Destiny was raised as a kind hearted mare. Name: Serenade Breed: Tenesse Walker Rank Trying for: Raniah how they met Loki: Grew up with him when she was little/ Met him after running away from lakotas when she was one) Personality: A double personalitied mare, Serenade can be kind and forgiving one moment, and flirty and moody the next. Don't worry though, her kind and forgiving nature is one you will often see. Willing to adopt foals: (If its a mare) Yes short bio: Serenade was born alone in the wild. Her mother and father were nowhere to be found, and she was weak from hunger when the Lakotas found her. Slowly, Serenade grew apart from them and ran away. Eventually, she ran into Loki and his family and grew up quietly following him. When he started his herd, she decided to join. As the herd grew, she helped find a young mare called Sierra. She always likes to think about the Present, as her own Past is a bit depressing. Underneath her tough shell though, there lies a bright and funny side to her. She is named after Rains mother. A year after runnign away she collapsed in a desert, waking to find Serenade. Name: Terracotta Breed: American Mustang Rank Trying for: Mare how they met Loki: Met him when she and her adoptive daughter were seperated from their herd by a landslide. Terracotta chose to stay with Loki and become one of his mares Personality: Terracotta is a natural mother. Kindly, gentle and extremely devoted, she always does her best for her foals, and often attends to their needs before her own. She has no ambition to become the lead mare or gain authority. She is perfectly content to be a broodmare, and devotes her entire being to raising her children. Willing to adopt foals: Yes, definately short bio: Terracotta was the daughter of her father's lead mare. She left her father's herd at the age of 4, and joined a stallion called Panorama's herd. Her only foal with him was stillborn, but she raised his daughter as her own. When the filly was a yearling, Terracotta and her adopted foal were seperated from the herd by a landslide, whereby they found Loki's herd, and Terracotta became one of his mares.

Joined!! :D Name: Dreamer Breed: Arabian Rank Trying for: Messenger how they met Loki: Out grazing one day and she saw him and wanted someone to talk to. Personality: Shy, Outgoing, Can be out-spoken at times, willing to do things for anyone Willing to adopt foals: Yes short bio: Born in the indian tribe but left when she was 2 years old. She ran into Loki while trying to find her sisters' herd. She started talking to him and he asked her if should would like to join his herd and she said yes. She met the other mares and found out she fit in perfectly. She made friends with a horse named Hermes and the talked and when he asked her what rank she was she said she didn't know yet. He told her looking at her she would probably be a good messenger. She asked Loki about it and he told her he'll think about it. Her and Hermes became good friends during the day and she hoped she became a messenger. Picture coming soon :3

Name: Lola Breed: Arabian Rank Trying for: Lead mare or messenger how they met Loki: When Lola left her family to explore the world she was standing up to a stallion who was trying to force her into joining his herd but she refused him Until Loki came to her rescue when the stallion was getting to forceful with her. Personality:Lola is a gentle mare with a wild streak. She is graceful and cunning but she loves to play and enjoy life even when life seems gloomy. She rarely has a bad day and when she does you matter look out. She stands up for herself and others. Willing to adopt foals: yes short bio: Lola was born to a light gray Arabian mare who was all alone in the desert with no herd. He father was nowhere to be found but her mother proved to not need him for she raised little Lola all by herself while teaching her everything she needed to know. Life had been good but hard at times for them bother but nothing ever got them down they just kept going. Lola was and still is a very positive mare who can find the good things even in the hardest moments of her life. With the years Lola had come to know a buckskin stallion by the name of Spirit. He had taken in Lola and her mother for a few years before Lola left to find her own way in the world with hopes of a great future ahead of her. (more to come)
