TRAITS + PERSONALITY

Personality: Uquina is kind, strong and independant. At a first glance, she appears to be the perfect mare. But Uquina has been through a hard past, and been forced to watch several loved ones beaten to death before her eyes. Her independance comes form the fact that she never had anyone to rely on, and she finds it hard to trust anyone. She forces herself to work through tough times on her own, because she doesn't really understand that there are those that will help her. She's terrified of thunder and lightning, and just one flash of light sends her into a state of panic, causing her to hide wherever she can't see the bright lights. The sound of  thunder itself makes her freeze up.

HISTORY

Even from the moment she was born, Uquina was practically on her own. Hours after her birth, her parents were beaten to death by a band of stallions. Terrified, Uquina attempted to run, but she had been born small and weak, and stumbled along through the long grass. The band's leader reared over her, and a flash of lightning cracked across the sky, siloetting the stallion. Rumbles of thunder roared in the skies as the stallions suddenly left. This is what started her phobia of storms.

Uquina raised herself through pure instinct, learning to fight off cougars and how to find food in winter. The years of her life passed by uneventfully, but she never went near another horse. The fear of others had been ground into her by the stallionsthat had killed her parents. She never spoke a word.

One day on her travels, she came upon a dappled nokota stallion. She didn't know why, but she had an intrest in him. She followed him silently, walking only over rocks as to not leave any tracks.

Uquina followed him for a few days, soon learnt that his name was Ranger. She has yet to approach him, afraid that she'll make a fool of herself because she never really learnt to talk. She knows the basics that she picked up from horses she has heard, but she cannot speak fluently.
