Sugar likes to play with the other foals. Her best friend is Sierra and  her brother Tucke. Sugar's friendship with Tucker is on and off.

Shadow and Tally don't like their daughter's friends. They think Sierra and Tucker are bad influences. So Sugar was to stay home with her mother Tally when her friends asked her to go exploring with them.

Tucker and Sierra came home but there were wolves following them. Sugar was trapped in a corner. Her father Shadow saved her but he was injured. Shadow blamed Tucker and Sierra for his injuries. Sugar stood up for her friends saying that it wasn't there fault.

Shadow was still injured, so when a young stallion challenged him, he lost. Tucker was kicked out of the herd. Sugar decided to go with him, it was dangerous to be by yourself.
