History
Cain was born in a sheltered grove, his dam being his only company. When he was foaled, it had been just after a terrible storm. The two rested that night, before they were off to find the herd. When they arrived, his sire showed up, focusing on him. Cain admired his father, a thickly muscled amber dun stallion. Of course Cain tried to impress the stallion by trying to imitate him. His father gave a shadow of love before turning back.
Cain was very happy in the herd, playing with a filly his age and being a colt. A year dragged by as Cain watched and copied his father's motions. As springtime came around again, the yearling was confused as his mother left the herd. She had been growing larger, but the colt thought she was just gaining weight. A few days later she returned, with a gangly-legged foal behind her. This one was darker than Cain, and she proudly showed him off. His brothers name was Abel.
Cain quickly grew frustrated with this new foal. Abel never left his brother's side, always following and trying to copy Cain. Four months passed of this, and Cain was beyond annoyed with Abel. His father began teaching Abel more, and Cain was growing jealous. One day, he snapped at the foal, and would regret it to his dying breath.
"Go over to that bush and leave me alone!" He snapped his teeth together to prove his point. Abel had nickered sadly before walking off. Cain turned away to rejoin his friends, and heard a squeal. He wheeled back around to see Abel jumping away from the bush with a cougar attached on his withers. Cain rushed to help, trying to kick the cougar off with his front hooves. As he pushed the cougar off, his father noticed and whinnied, heading their way. Cain backed off immediately. His father watched as the cougar rolled off his younger son, both were dead. He turned and blamed it on Cain, saying he pushed him to the bush knowing the cougar was there.
No one would take his side, not his dam nor his friends. He left the herd at a year and four months old. He was on his own, and even now that four years had passed, he still heard his brother's terrified squeals of pain. Cain also learned that humans were not friendly either.
He had been captured by wranglers, dragged through the desert and barely fed and watered. They brought him to a large wooden structure and forced him inside. As the stallion was dragged in, a loud holler sounded through the complex. A huge dun stallion started creating chaos. The soldiers forced Cain into the stable block they were sure was safe. They were wrong. The moment they let Cain loose in the block, the stallion raced through. He followed the dun and indian out of the wooden structure. He parted ways from the huge herd of horses. Now he is again on his own, and he vowed to never care for anyone, he would only hurt them. He stays away from all herds and horses, he is better on his own.
