HISTORY
Pallaton was born Calloway in the Cavalry. He did not get a chance to meet his father and soon after he was born he was ripped away from his mother, who was dying of an unknown disease. Calloway was then taken to a small stable in the back of the Cavalry, he wasn't taken outside for another 3 days. When he was finally taken out of the stable, he was introduced to the other foals. He got on well with most of them.
As a yearling Calloway was selected to be the Colonels mount when he was older. The other yearlings were not happy about this and started bullying him. He was mainly teased for his scruffy long hair and curvy ears. After a while he had enough of being teased and started to stand up for himself and start fights. The Cavalry men had to split him up from the rest of the yearlings and lock him in a corral until he calmed down. This did not change the Colonels mind about the horse.
As soon as he turned 2 he was taken into battle. He was very badly injured by the bullets and was found with barbed wire tied around him when the battle finished. The Colonel did not take notice of his injuries and kept taking Calloway into battle. By the age of 4 he was so badly beaten that he could barley walk. The Colonel replaced him with a stronger stallion named Granite and sold him to a breeder.
Calloway was bred with many different mares, he did not take a particular liking to many of them and never fell in love with them. He only sort of became friends with one by the name of Blaire. After breeding with many of the mares Calloway was sold back to the Cavalry to join one last battle.
In this battle he was ridden by Sgt. Adams. In the first few minutes of the battle Calloway was shot in the shoulder. Sgt. Adams was thrown off and Calloway escaped. After a few hours of wandering he could not walk any longer and collapsed. Only to be rescued by the Lakota.
His wounds were treated in the tribe and trusted the Lakota people greatly. He found them much nicer than the Cavalry men. He became friends with most of the horses by giving them wise warnings about the Cavalry and not to trust every man you see. He decided to stay with the Lakota people and was renamed; Pallaton, Meaning; Warrior.
Pallaton fell in love with many of the Lakota mares such as; Kanti and Taima. But he never loved any mare more than he loved Anevay. He had a colt named Tokala and his foal was the best thing that ever happened to him. Tokala and him would spend hours in the fields playing and telling stories. But one day that all changed.
The Cavalry attacked the Lakota village and shot many horses and detroyed most of the village. Anevay was shot and Tokala was taken away by the Cavalry. The men recognised Pallaton and they tried to capture him again but we're not successful and Pallaton attacked them.
After the battle Pallaton cried out for his mate and lay beside her for days. After mourning her death and his foals capture, he thought he was no use to the village so he left.
Pallaton lived his life as a lone stallion, although he would always stop by the village and was very popular with the foals as he would tell his story to them. He is known as 'The old one' by many wild horses and 'Ghost Horse' to others. Apart from Spirit, he is the most well known horse in the country.
REALTION TO SPIRIT
- Pallaton was owned by the Cavalry and was the Colonels horse, he was also rescued by the Lakota people and lived in the Lakota village for the majority of his life.
