History: Jack was born and raised in England until he was two years of age. He was then sent on a ship and imported to the Americas. Adjusting was hard for Jack, the landscape was different, not to mention the accents and the people! He travelled a lot, not sure of where he was going, but he was treated well. He was sold, and bought by a US soldier who took him to their base clear out in the middle of nowhere. He became accquainted with Granite, the lead horse (who excessively bossed him around and bullied him) and met Coda, the most beautiful mare he had ever seen.
One day, as Jack and Coda were lazing in the shade of the stables, a wild buckskin was brought into the large pen, and tied to a post. Jack and Coda watched suspiciously. Jack had never seen anything like it, a wild horse that is, but Coda had seen her share. Jack was amazed at how spirited the mustang was, and he admired its resistance. However, the mustang was treated unfairly and the two horses watched in amazement as the mustang fought for his freedom. Jack was horrified to say the least.
After about four days of this, the two horses expected to see the once wild mustang in their stables shortly, they figured he'd be broken for sure. But they were surprised to learn the mustang hadn't stopped fighting yet.
That afternoon, they watched in amusement as the General was tossed from the buckskin like a sack of potatoes, then held their breath when he pulled out a gun. There was a crash, a bang, and a Indian appearing from nowhere, when suddenly, the mustang ran right through the stables!
Jack and Coda leapt to the side to avoid his thundering hooves, and he tore out of the stable, they were the first to follow, bucking and kicking up their heels. They watched in amazement as the buckskin and Indian tore out of the base, and ran to freedom. Coda immediately started to follow, but was stopped by Granite, who delivered a swift kick to her chest. Coda jumped back, and defeatedly walked away, but Jack reared and aggressively bit Granite's neck. The lead horse wailed and turned away, and Jack and Coda fled from that place, out the base, and far away.
They followed the buckskin, and most of the escaped horses, when a group of Indians came out of nowhere and started to throw ropes on some of the escapees. Jack pushed Coda to the right and they fled from the Indians as well, and grouped up with two other horses, a gelding and a mare. The band continued traveling far away, not sure of where they were going, but they left. Jack missed the sweet grain, the shelter from the rain, and his blanket. His mane grew out and rested on his neck in ragged clumps. His hooves begame to split and his shoes were hanging on by barely a nail. Luckily, none of the horses escaped with tack, so that wasnt an issue.
Their story continues as they struggle for food and water, and fight off the prodators.
