Personality: A friendly but overly curious mare who sometimes tends to wander as she explores the world around her.

Scarlett, was born in February of 1858 along with her twin brother, Shadow. Scarlett is the oldest of the two twins and always had an overdeveloped sense of curiousity and wonder about the world around her. In the summer of 1861, she wandered away from her families herd as she chased a nearby river otter. Her parents looked in vain for their daughter and were unable to find her. They assumed she had died at the claws of a mountain lion or worse had been captured by humans. Shadow's memories of his sister faded as the years went by and believed like his parents that she was dead then soon believed she never existed at all. In truth Scarlett was very much alive and after being separated from her herd she wandered for miles before collapsing from exhaustion. The dying foal was found by a wandering group of Lakota Sioux as they moved across the plain. They nursed the young horse back to health. Scarlett grew to enjoy her time among the Sioux people as she was cared for and they provided her with a sense of family she had lost so many years before but she always wondered what had happened to her real family. After living with the Lakota for a number of years Scarlett felt it was time for her to search for her family in order to feel complete again. She quietly was let go by the Lakota when put out one day to graze. The Lakota made no attempt to recapture the wild mare. They knew she had someplace else to be and let her find her own path. Scarlett by chance while drinking from a nearby river ran into another wild mare who turned out to be her long lost brother's mate, Miranda. Scarlett carefully approached her introducing herself to Miranda and explaining why she had approached her in the first place. Once Miranda was sufficiently convinced that Scarlett was indeed Shadow's long lost sister made plans to reintroduce them while Shadow grazed by his favorite apple tree.  Shadow rejected his sister at first refusing to believe that she had been alive all this time as he could only recall faint memories of her. Little by little he came to see that she was indeed his sister and they finally could be reunited as a family once again. Scarlett was saddened by the news her parents had passed away years prior and that they died not knowing what had happened to their daughter. She joined her brother as a member of Spirit's herd.
