History: Angel was born at a farm that went bankrupt a few years after her birth. The farm had 32 horses at the time she was born. Her sire and dam where also living at the farm. Her sire's barn name was Big Red. Her dam was called Princess. She was very attached to her mother. She grew up gracefully. But as the years went by, conditions got worse and worse. At 4 years old, Princess died of a foot disease called laminitis, for she could have been saved but the owners could not pay for the vet care, so they were forced to leave it untreated. A year later, her sire was taken away to auction and Angel still does not know if he is still alive. At 6 years old, she still had very little handling and care. Her hooves were overgrown, and she was very dirty. Many other horses were in the same condition as she was. At 7 years old, there were only 8 horses left on the farm, the rest were either sent to auction, sent to slaughter, or died of an illness or starvation. Angel was heading in that direction. The only horses left were starving and were in great pain, but when some places offered to take the horses, the owner's turned them down. Finally, Wild One Horse Rescue came and checked at all of the horses, and found that Angel was in the worst condition and the owner's finally agreed to let her and the other horses go. When Angel and the others arrived at the rescue, she was scared to death and thought it was the end for her. She received the most attention out of all the horses rescued with her. They had to feed her more often than any other horses. Thankfully, she quickly gained an average weight and began handling and training. She was a quick learner. It was only a few months after her rescue she was started under saddle. When she first joined the rest of the rescue mares, she was welcomed by a blue roan mare named Midnight Roanie, who was the same age as her. They became known as 'The Group' by all of the handlers and horses. Midnight Roanie being the 'Sassy One' of the group, and Angel being the 'Sweetie' of the group. Roanie told Angel about her past and Spirit, the only stallion that took kindly to her. At 8 years old, Angel was put up for adoption. And because Midnight Roanie and Angel are such great friends, the handlers at the rescue decided to have them adopted out as a 'package'. They were both bought by a stranger and were both released to the wild. They met a herd, the cimarron herd and they were teased for being captive born. Spirit teased Angel everyday and ran her and Roanie out of their territory every day. They were then found and adopted by a young girl named Veronica.
