History:
Novia was born to a very wealthy breeder. She didn’t remember her parents, since she was taken from them to be sold very shortly after.
She was bought by a very friendly woman, who showed her in dressage and show jumping. However, when her owner passed away from cancer, Lady Novia was sold to another family.
The family she was sold to had three kids. They rode her, and played with her, and she loved them dearly. However, they too had to sell her due to financial problems.
Novia didn’t mind, for she was used to getting moved already. However, she was sold to a man who claimed to be a breeder.
With him, she had many foals with many horses. She didn’t mind, she enjoyed the time she got to spend with the little ones.
However, the man who bred her had huge legal problems, and was arrested for stealing money a couple years after he got her. She was about 10.
Because he was arrested, Novia became possession of the state, and was sold in an auction. With no one wanting to buy her or all her foals because of her prices, she and her babies were sold to a glue factory.
Novia was put in a pasture with many other horses she didn’t know. They spent weeks there before her and a few of her foals were lead into a huge building. Smoke rose from machines, and it smelled awful. Novia knew something was wrong, but she didn’t know what to do.
When the humans came in Novia panicked. She kicked and bit at her holder and managed to escape out the front door.
She ran far until she realized her foals weren’t with her. She ran back, only to hear their screams of pain.
Terrified, Novia ran off, tears in her eyes. She had failed to make sure they were with her, and because of that they lost their lives. Novia galloped back to the pasture, and helped the other horses escape before it was too late. Many of them ran off into the wild, but a few were caught.
Novia spent many days in the wilderness, crying and heartbroken. She felt miserable that her foals had been killed, and she wasn’t able to do anything.
One night, she was out wandering when she heard a high pitched squeal. A foal had gotten stuck in a briar bush.
Novia chuckled, knowing the foal wouldn’t be terribly hurt and was just panicking. She helped free it from the bush, and it ran off to look for its mother.
Novia felt her heart warm up again, and she realized that maybe, if she helped save enough horses from pain, it would clear her conscience.
From that day forward Novia wandered the lands, helping horses when they needed her. She doesn’t really talk to the horses, and once they’re in safety, she disappears.
Many horses call her the Angel Of The Night, and she is a legend. Some horses don’t believe she exists, but others know she does, for she’s helped them in their time of need.
Even Spirit has had his run in with Lady Novia, when she saved two of his foals from drowning.
He didn’t get to talk to her, but he saw her long wavy tail disappear into the night. Spirit chased after her, but was unable to find the Friesian mare.
Many horses think she’s a spirit, sent to help everyone, but no one knows for sure.
And that’s how Novia wants to keep it.
