History:
Corin led a small herd in an area near Spirit’s. He grew up in the herd, and it was passed down to him from his father.
Many mares didn’t know what to think of Corin. When he became leader, he was very young, and the mares worried he would be different from their previous leader, who was very kind.
However, Corin proved to be different, and led in a way almost identical to his father. He believed that a leader should be kind, and forgiving.
Corin’s father had maintained peace with the herd next to them, the Cimarron herd. Corin grew up knowing the horses in that herd, one of them being Spirit.
Corin quickly gained the respect of the horses in his herd, and thrived as a very popular leader.
One day, Corin was leading his horses to the river when a lone mare approached them. Her name was Lyra, and she had been kicked out of her previous herd because the leader was angry that she refused to mate with him.
Corin talked to her, and convinced her to join his herd. He promised not to treat her like that, as he respected her privacy.
Months later, Corin and Lyra fell for each other. She became his lead mare, and they had a foal named Tybalt. However, after Lyra gave birth she caught a sickness in her weakness. She grew sick, and frail.
When Tybalt was 2, Lyra passed away. Corin was sent into a trail of grief, and his mares worried about him.
After a week, he decided to move the herd to a different location. Being in the area just reminded him of Lyra, and he knew it was unfair to his mares if he was sad all the time.
His mares were upset to leave some of their friends, but respected him and his decision and left with him. Two of his mares joined Spirit’s herd, but Corin didn’t mind at all. He respected Spirit, and knew they were in good hands.
Corin spent his last years with his herd in their new home. One day, a group of mares came to him, seeking shelter. He accepted their request, and allowed them to live with him.
However, one afternoon a storm set their homeland on fire. The horses were resting under trees in a nearby forest when lightning struck.
Corin gathered his mares and led them out in time, but a few mares got lost and left behind.
Being a passionate leader, Corin ran back into the flames to save them.
He found all of them and led them out, when a fiery branch fell on him. Despite the unexpected death, Corin was at peace.
He was overjoyed to be able to see Lyra again, and knew that his son would take good care of the herd. (Which he didn’t..)
Corin passed away that afternoon, and his mares grieved him for many years after that.
