History:
Tybalt grew up with his father Corin, and his mother. Their small herd lived near the Cimarron herd, and his father and Spirit were close friends. Tybalt often played with some of the foals in Spirit’s herd.
One day, Tybalt woke up to see his father crying. His mother had been sick for the past few months, and had passed away in the night. Tybalt was too young to understand what happened, but he knew he would never see his mother again.
Corin decided to move the herd a week later, to a new location. Spirit was sad to see his friend go, but Corin couldn’t live in a place full of so many memories.
The herd moved many miles away to a secluded river valley near a large group of woods. There were only a few small herds around, and Tybalt grew up on his own. Tybalt didn’t make friends with the foals in his own herd, and missed the foals from Spirit’s herd. He grew up friendless, which attributed to his cold personality later on.
When Tybalt was 8, a small group of mares approached their herd. It was obvious they were in need of some shelter, and a safe place to stay. Corin let them, and even offered for the horses to join his herd.
The mares obliged, and Tybalt was confused. He asked his father why they’d allow such a beat up team of mares to join the herd. He sensed that they would cause trouble, and didn’t like them at all.
One day, a thunderstorm hit the valley, and lit the woods on fire. The horses, who were sleeping under the trees panicked. Corin attempted to round everyone up and lead them out calmly, but a few mares got left behind. Two of them were a part of the group that had just joined.
Despite Tybalt’s pleas, Corin went in after the mares. A minute later, the mares returned from the fire, safe and sound. Tybalt could see the shadow of his father approaching, but Corin didn’t notice the burning branch above him. It snapped, and fell onto the old horse.
Corin was pinned under the burning tree, and died. Tybalt was struck with grief at having lost the only parent he really knew. His grief later turned into anger when he realized his father died saving the group of mares he didn’t like to start with.
Tybalt took his rightful place as leader, but ruled with hatred and strict policies. He was driven by his grief and rage.
One night the mares decided to leave the cruel stallion. Tybalt saw them, and chased them down, to bring them back to his control. However, they were very fast.
Tybalt managed to chase a paint mare named Faren into a corner. He was going to yell at her for leaving when a buckskin gypsy vanner came and kicked him in the shoulder.
He screamed in pain, and doubled back. Faren escaped, along with the rest of the mares.
Defeated, Tybalt returned to his herd, determined to keep them safe, and within his control.
He still leads them to this day, without a lead mare, and with a strong hatred for the mares who escaped his clutch.
