Loves: her freedom, the winter snow
Hates: just being known as "Storm's sister", mocked
Good Traits: has very good sense of direction, quick and cunning, brave
Bad Traits: can sometimes be quick to judge, smart alec
Happiness: the higher her head and the longer she runs will tell anyone in her herd how happy she is. Her gallops look almost bouncy when she's most happy.
Sadness: she won't gallop at all. River will laze around the field and make half-attempts to eat and smack at flies and avoid others for the rest of the day.
Anger: head would be lowered and tail would be flung about and her gallops would seem more like charges.
Fear: if in danger, she would try to get others to safety before taking care of herself. Alone, she would run with all her might with her tail tucked unless it comes down to fighting as a last resort.
All her life she has been in Storm's shadow and was constantly known as "Storm's sister". Her best friends while growing up were the twins. The trio would mostly get into trouble but never really have any consequences until the day River aged into a mare and was allowed to go exploring further beyond the fields. She and the twins did this but were oblivious of what they would bring back with them. In the cover of night, a band of dark horses charged the herd and overpowered Spirit within seconds and while Sin, the leader of the bunch, stood over the fallen stallion and waited for his comrades to weave out the males and elderly mares from the healthy ones. River was caught in the middle of it all, trying to give them as much trouble as possible as Storm led their mother to safety.
The mares that were chosen were led a long journey to the place where the Black Valley herd called home. Only two mares besides River servived. It was an overcrowded place where water was limited, food was scarce, and no private space. Everyone that wasn't in the ranks was forced into a tight circle. River was one of the first mares in the herd to join the ranks as a scout. Serving as one gave her the chance to help two mares escape. Nakitah and another who was Phantom and Blackbird's only daughter, Shade. River managed to lie about Shade, saying she was teaching her how to track and while crossing a river she was swept away by the current. Sin saw right through her lie and tried to take half of River's ear as punishment. Ghost came between the two and it took Blackbird to split the fighting siblings, saying that Shade was an embarrassment to the Black Valley herd and was not worth the bloodshed. Blackbird envied River's youth but was impressed by her spirit, claiming that not most mares could stay as mentally strong as she has been in the time she has served them.
Then River helped Nakitah escape out of pity for the poor mare and Sin called her out and when the black stallion tried to attack her once more, Ghost intervened for his friend. Perhaps they would have become something more if Sin knew when to quit.
After Ghost's death, the youngest brother, Locust, decided it was time for a change and with his smarts and River's speed and cunning they eliminated the threat. Shadow became the next leader but he quickly turned it down claiming he was not a leader and instead followed River. A little more than half of the Black Valley horses followed her. The ones who were lost, didn't know what to do, or were too far gone stayed behind with the enraged Blackbird.
After all her years of being gone from the Cimarron, River thought it was best not to return to her former homeland. Instead, she led her band to become the Nemaha herd.

She's really pretty although I'm not quite sure why she's marked as
'unrealistic'. Here is an image of a horse with the same markings. http://oi49.tinypic.com/23u67it.jpg |

What a lovely girl! Good work on her! |
I do know that minimal splash bays are realistic but I guess I never saw my error. Thank you for pointing it out to me, LoL.
