Personality:
A very shy mare to strangers, Austen doesn't make friends easy. She never makes the first move, and would rather someone come to her and speak to her first. She always feels like a bother to her friends and her "family". She has a quick temper and can lose it easily, though she tries her best to contain it. When she around close friends, she can be very silly and loud, always trying to put a smile on someone's face. She, however, can be very sensitive and her feelings get hurt easily. Because of her past, she is very emotional and frequent breakdowns occur on certain topics.
She cares very much about her friends and their friends. If someone is having trouble, she will take their situation in her own hands.
Likes:
Austen likes to have company, mainly just her three main friends. She enjoys the winter but the summer most. She enoys watching the cool desert evening sunsets.
Dislikes:
Disliking few things, one of them is know-it-alls. No one knows everything. She also doesn't like people who try to butt in something when they have no idea what's going on, and shouldn't have a say in it.
Fears: Her main fears are the dark and being alone.
History
On a crispy, foggy May morning a new foal was born by the riverbed. She was only a few moments old as her mother glared down at her. Hatred, and sorrow in her eyes. She continued to stare down at her sleeping form. She sighed she knew a place where she could abandon her, but not kill her.
The next day a buckskin stallion approached the foal. Curious he sniffed her, nudging her. As she rolled over and looked at the male she whinnied in happiness, licking the his face. The stallion smiled and looked at his side to his mother. She stood up and shook herself, of the grass and dirt on her side. She took her first steps, the strangers smiled in pride. Since the mother abandoned her they had no choice but to take her. They wouldn't be known as killers.
The two took Austen back to the Cimarron herd. All the mares fell in love with her. The foals thought she was cool. Everyone except this annoying Yearling, Niki. Whenever she saw Austen alone, she'd say mean things and kick her and put her down for her unique colors.
--1 YEAR LATER--
A year later, Austen grew up into a nice young mare. She was still young and frisky. She played around a lot with some of the other younger horses, that were around her age. But she just stood around and listened to their conversations, not as much of interacting with them. She enjoyed just listening., instead of joining in on the chattering mares.
One day, she decided to leave the herd on a search to find somewhere to call her own. Her mother insisted she stayed but finally agreed with Austen that it was time for her to relase her grip. As Austen set out she came across many herd, and familes of bears and coyotes. She came across a cougar or two, but only ones who seemed to be more intrested in trimming their nails or grooming themselves instead of her. So she continued on.
Soon after at least 3 months of searching she finally found unclaimed land. As she explored the open land she found a stallion grazing on it. She cautiously trotted up to him. She explained she was looking for somewhere to live and had asked if the spot was open for horses to come and live on. He wasn't sure if it belonged to anyone but the two had stayed there for many months together.
Soon May came again, and through the winter, the two made the decision to become mates and start a family. Austen gave birth to a handsome foal named Woods. They had a decent sized herd and called it the Notaska herd, because of the famous Notaska flowers that grew on the border of their land.
