Personality: Ailey is a very quiet mare, who tends to keep to herself. She only speaks when needed. She is very shy.

Likes: Quiet, Being on her own.

Dislikes: Humans, Pushy horses.

History

Ailey was born on a cool September day. She was a late foal, as her parents called her. She had a small family. One older brother, and her mother and father. They roamed around the land, for they had no herd. Ailey was never associated with any other horses, so she had no clue how to socialize with them.

As the years went by, Ailey grew. She never came out of her shell though. She always stayed by herself, off in the distance. Everyday was the same for her. But that was all about to change.

One day, her brother took off on his own, to search for some land to claim as their own. Ailey's mother and father wanted to start a herd, but they needed more land to support them. He said he would be back in two sunrises, no more, no less. They said their goodbyes, and he was gone.

The two days went by quickly. Her brother didn't come back. And so they waited. He still didn't return. Her father said he would go look for him. Again, they said their goodbyes, and he left.

But, he too, never came back. Ailey and her mother were left on their own, unprotected. Tragedy struck. Ailey's mother was attacked by a cougar. She led it away from her daughter, and was killed shortly after. Ailey was now on her own.

Winter was just around the corner. Ailey knew she would have to find a more closed area. Because when winter came, hungry predators would follow. It wouldn't be safe. She found a safe new area to live in. But at the very back of her mind, she wondered if her brother and father were well and alive somewhere. She decided after Winter had passed, she would set out on her own to find them.

Winter passed quickly. And, just as she had said, Ailey set out on her own on a quest to find her father. Sadly, she was never seen again after that. Some say she is still alive, determined to find her family. Others say that she died just after she left her home.

Relation to Spirit: The cougar who killed her mother was the same one who had attacked The Foals and Spirit. (In the fanfic, she meets Spirit, who assists her on her journey to find her family.)
