History
Horses everywhere fear me, but they don't no why I'm like this. They don't know the real story...
I was once a kind, easy-going colt. I don't remember much about my colt-hood, only that I wasn't like the others. I was always the one left out of everything. One day, while playing near the Indian village, a pretty filly saw me alone, and asked if I wanted to join her game of tag. She introduced herself as Rain. I instantly fell for the soft-eyed mare, and hung around her as much as possible. It felt good, to finally be accepted.
A few years went by, and as I grew, so did my feelings for her. But she had been busy in her village, training to become a human horse, and so on. So, we stopped seeing each other for a while. Although I missed her, I didn't want to push her.
One day, while out grazing, I heard a strange sound. I followed it, and found men on horseback galloping towards a large wooden structure in the distance. I didn't know that these people were different than the Lakota, so I followed them. They captured me, and tried training me. They failed horribly at it. I hurt a few of the men that had tried to ride me. This had scared them, and they finally left me alone. A few months went by, and autumn turned to winter.
One day, they roped me, and led me to a strange place, where some of the men were making large holes in the mountains and others were loading horses in a large cage-like thing. I heard some horses call it a "Train." All of the horses were loaded on the train, and taken away.
I didn't know where we were when we first arrived to our destination. I wasn't scared, but I wasn't completely sure of this place, either. Most of the horses went along with what the men told them, so I did, too. We were all hooked up to another train, and directed to pull. Most horses dropped quickly from exhaustion, others, like me, made it longer. Suddenly, everyone stopped. I felt the chains that tied me to the train slacken, and I swept up in a large stampeded of the other freed horses.
I found myself lost after a few hours of running. I was a long way from home, and didn't know which way it was. I gave up after a long time of wandering, and settled in for the night.
After about another month, I decided to head out and find Rain. I found the village, but it was being rebuilt, and Rain was not there. I asked some of the horses there where she wen, and they said she had fallen in love with another stallion, named "Spirit," and gone off with him. I was enraged by this, and demanded to know where they had went. The horses said that they had headed out to Cimarron territory. I thanked them, and left to find my mare.
When I reached Cimarron territory, I was confronted by an eagle. He asked me why I was trespassing.
"I am here to see Rain," I growled, ears pinned.
He nodded. "Follow me," he said, before taking off again.
When we reached the herd, Spirit welcomed me warmly. I didn't buy his little act. "Where's my mare?" I asked, keeping my voice lowered.
"What do you mean?" He asked, obviously confused.
"Stupid horse..." I muttered. "Where's Rain?" I growled.
Rain had noticed me, and rushed over. "Nite? Is that you? It's been such a long-"
"Why, Rain? Why did you leave the village? I thought you said you would never leave the village, ever," I said, cutting her off.
She looked down. "That was a long time ago. We were only foals then, Nite."
"But I loved you! Why didn't you wait for me to return?"
"I couldn't...We all assumed you were dead...Then I met Spirit, and-"
I screeched with rage, throwing myself at the mare I once loved, my heart shattered. Spirit squealed, and threw himself between us, taking the full impact of my hit. He drove me from the land, saying that I have no right to cross the Cimarron border, and if he found me on his land, he promised that I would die a slow, painful death.
I know that he is no match for me, but I am wise, and stay well away from the Cimarron. When the day comes, I will make him pay for taking Rain away from me. He will not get away with it.
