~~{♦} NOTE: Silver is basically me as a horse. In real life I really do have silver hair and wear feathers ( I know in my drawing she isn't wearing any feathers, I forgot to draw them in XD). However even though she's my fursona, she's a character for fanfiction. I would LOVE to do a fanfic/roleplay with her, so if anyone needs another horse let me know! :) {♦}

Her mother is a 14 year old liver chestnut named Grapevine, brought to America from Norway as a gift to a wealthy racehorse trainer. As many expected, she grew up to be a very promising racer, and had more endurance than most of the stallions at the track. This all came to an abrupt halt when she took a bad fall one day during practice. She barely recovered from a sprained knee, with the promise that racing could no longer be a part of her life. Grapevine was later adopted to be a broodmare by a large breeding and training ranch in South Dakota where she met Waverider, Silver's father. Waverider is a 15 year old palomino mustang stallion, caught at a very young age and was quickly bought due to his golden color.
Waverider was very proud when Silver was born as a paint with his same golden coloring, and hazel eyes. Both her parents loved her very very much, and began to teach her how to be a "proper mare." None of the other fillies had any problem with being "proper".....but Silver hated it. She hated being ridden, and would buck off almost every rider. In the large ranch estate that they lived, that was considered to be very unusual. Her parents would get frustrated with her and call her a disapointment. The horses on the estate were all taught tthat horses were all created to serve the humans, and that they must admire them and serve without question. Now, Silver had always been an outcast, and in all the time she spent alone she became very observant. She saw the evil in humans...how they treated one another, how disrespectful they were to the Earth, and the cruel ways they treated animals. Deep in the fiber of her being she knew there was more to life than this.
The estate was very, very oppressive. Galloping was strictly forbidden, the humans saw it as a danger and an attempt to escape. The fastest pace allowed was a slow lope....none of the horses even knew how to gallop.....their parents were never allowed to, so they couldn't teach them. However, in the corner of Silver's pasture was a view of the mustags on the plains. She watched them all day long, everyday, just longing to live like them. They would gallop across the plains in one big herd, like a never ending river. She even watched one buckskin stallion race an eagle from time to time. Silver found all this absolutly mesmorizing. When she watched them gallop, she could feel every hoofbeat, her muscles would even twitch and she felt her head and body swaying to the rythem of freedom. She began to secretly teach herself how to gallop-if she was completly alone. She could only gallop for short distances, or else it would bring attention. it felt so right....she loved the way her mane flew in the wind of her own earthly flight.
As Silver got older, her colors changed dramatically. Her golden color faded into a ghostly white, and her once honey colored mane faded, but not dulled. Instead her mane became white chrome.....it was silver!!!
She loved to play with the birds, lizards, and snakes around the estate. They taught her a lo, about life in the wild, and told her exciting stories about lucky escapes from predators. She was facinated with their lives, and was always happy to see her little friends. One day while she was grazing, she heard a crash and horrible screech that made her shudder. she rushed to the scene and was surprised to see a bald eagle trapped under a collapsed wall of the old haybarn.
"Oh my god, what happened?"
"QUICK! HELP ME GET THIS OFF MY WING!" he gasped.
"Okay, let me see if i can lift it! hang in there, and whatever you do don't move!!"
"Th-th-thank yo-" he was cut off by a bit of blood dripping from his mouth. this was a matter of life and death.
Silver saw that the wall was leaning up against another board, all she had to do was get her hooves under and fling it off. She lined her back legs up with the board, and with one big kick, the wall flew off over the fence and hit the ground with a crash.
"Are you okay?!! How's your wing?!!" she asked, nostrils flared.
"Y-yes....bless you sweet horse.." the eagle panted. "..Yes, my wing will be fine, its just sore. You got here just in time. Thank you so much...you saved my life."
"Oh, well..its nothing really....I'd just hate for you to get hurt."
"So would I, my dear!" the eagle chuckled. "What is your name, I must thank you properly."
"My name is Silver."
"Why, I couldn't think of a better name for a mare like you! Your mane reminds me of the moonlight on the water, very pretty sight, I'll say."
"I wish everyone thought like that. The other horses are scared of my colors, they think Im a witch."
"Then they have never glimsed the true beauty of the Earth. But I must say, their right about you being different, you seem wilder than the others. Shouldn't be captive." he paused for a while before saying "As a totem of my gratitude, I will make you a gift."'
"A gift? Like what?"
"I'll show you, just give me a moment." He flew off into the tack room, and there came the sound of clattering. When he came back, in his beak was a thin leather string and some colored beads that he must've pulled off of the dream catcher hanging in the doorway. "Ah ha! These should do just fine. Now don't look until its finished!"
Silver watched him fiddle with the bits of things he'd found. He was tying knots and stringing beads with his talons and beak. After watching him fiddle with the scraps, he finally turned around and held up two beaded strings with a loop where they met, and on the ends were two...eagle feathers!
Silver was astonished. "There so beautiful!...This is the best gift I've ever been given....thank you so much."
"There's an ancient code amongst us eagles. If you save our life, we give a part of ourselves in return." He said with a warm smile, then added "It is said that when a horse wears the feathers of an eagle then they inherit the wings of Earth's power." He then flew up and perched on her neck, and took a strand of her mane and tied it to the loop. "There we are! Now it will never come off!"
Silver gave a joyous neigh and began to prance around, whipping her mane as she did so. "Its so beautiful, I love it!"
The eagle chuckled. "You're a sweet mare, Silver. I hate seeing you locked up here, your spirit belongs in the wild."
A wave of depression washed over her face. "I wish I could fly away like you."
He seemed to feel her pain. There was a long pause before he spoke again. "You know, you could get out anytime you want."
Her ears stood up on end, turned to him. "...How?!"
"These fences aren't very high, you could jump over them easily. And besides, your much stronger then the humans. You say you hate being controlled.....then why do you let them?"
Silver stood motionless, staring miles into the distance-past the plains, past the river, past the mountains. It was as if her world...and her mind, just briefly expanded to reach every corner of the universe. It was this very moment that would change her life forever. "I....I don't know. I guess you're right. Why did it take me so long for me to realize this?"
"We all reach enlightenment at our own pace. Now child, I believe you have somewhere to be, hm?" he said with the warmest smile.
"Oh thank you so much Mr. Eagle! I hope we meet again someday!" Silver reared up, stretched her legs, and then blasted across the field like a ton of dynamite. Her hooves created thunder, wind whipped past her ears, her mane and feathers soaring behind her like a kite! Oh, this is wonderful!! Words can't even describe how I feel right now!! As she approached the fence, her legs braced to take off. She heard humans running up behind her, yelling and screaming. But it was too late for them, because at that moment Silver was already airborn over the fence. While she was briefly in the air, she glanced down at the ground and the shadow of the eagle's wings. when he hit the ground at a gallop, she looked around.....but the eagle was no where to be seen.
With the sun setting above her, she set her sights on the mountains, and ran straight on till morning.
